Our swap day is this Sunday! Tell your friends!

We also wish to thank all the new and regular faces who have popped into the cafe in the last week or so because of these ooshies! When I decided to post about them, it was purely to help parents complete collections for their kids for nothing in return. Not to market our business in anyway, simply because my children didn’t need more toys to leave on their bedroom floors!

We have had people donating bag fulls of ooshies, people coming in and taking what they need and replacing them with their doubles for the next family, and everyone grabbing a coffee or a bite to eat which has supported our family owned small business.

This is what community is about…and when mixed with coffee there is no better combo!

And we have secretly loved trading the ooshies ourselves, seeing the relief on parents faces and the excitement on the kids faces when they snag the ooshie they have been hunting for the most…we can tell you Jessie and Bullseye are the most asked for!

I wanted just one ooshie out of the whole set…and that was Jessie…I have snagged her finally and I’m keeping her!

We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of Ooshies donated to the café so we do have quite a lot needing to find their forever homes - no swap needed for the Ooshies Groupheads and Grind has acquired, we just ask that we spread the love around so everyone can get their hands on some Ooshies. We will happily take any donations so others can continue to drop into the cafe over the coming weeks and grab what they need for their kids, grandkids or themselves!

So bring along your doubles, mum and dad grab a coffee, kids grab a milkshake and swap with other collectors to help complete your collections. You might even find those last few Ooshies you’ve been chasing!

Meet the Team – Introducing Dekoda!

Dekoda came into Groupheads and Grind only two weeks ago for a trial shift and within minutes Jessie knew she was a keeper! Dekoda has shown so much enthusiasm to learn the daily running operations of the cafe as well as become friends with everyone she has worked with since she started.

Jessie has already set one very important goal with Dekoda…to have her drinking coffee before the year is out! At the moment though, she’s stubbornly sticking with hot chocolates… unless there are leftover milkshakes floating around. Those mysteriously disappear pretty quickly when Dekoda and Jessie are working together!

The bonus of hiring Dekoda? Her height! Jessie has officially retired the step stool (well… almost!). It’s amazing how much easier life is when someone can actually reach the top shelf for you!

You’ll mostly find Dekoda keeping our weekday crew in line, but you’ll also catch her smiling face on weekends too. Be sure to welcome our new junior when you are in next…and try convincing her to have a mocha!

Meet the Team – Introducing Evelyn (Ev)!

We’re excited to welcome Evelyn (or Ev as she likes to be called) to the Groupheads and Grind crew!

Ev only started with us today, but honestly… you’d swear she’d been part of the team for months. She jumped straight in, fit in with everyone instantly, and brought her bubbly personality along with her.

Ev is in her final year of high school and is planning to study Forensics at university next year.

Her go to shift drink? An iced chai made with icecream and cream… but it must be on lactose-free milk!

You’ll mostly catch Ev’s smiling face around the café on weekends, so be sure to say hello when you pop in. We know you’re going to love her just as much as we already do!

Woolworths Ooshies - if it’s on the shelf and you need it cause your kids are nagging you for a full collection…then it’s all yours! Jessie has decided her kids don’t need these little pieces of plastic in their lives and would love for your kids to have them instead! Kindly ask the staff for what you need! We end up with about 40 of them a week! So the shelf will be restocked as our deliveries come in!

WE'RE HIRING – JOIN THE GROUPHEADS AND GRIND TEAM!

We're growing and looking for enthusiastic, reliable people to join our awesome team at Groupheads and Grind in Brendale.

We have four positions available for an immediate start:

Cook
- Experience of 3 years in similiar role a MUST!
- All-rounder and/or barista experience is a bonus
- Role offers approx. 21-28 hours a week

Weekday Junior Team Member
- Previous experience in a similar hospitality role required
- Role offers approx. 12-15 hours a week

2 x Weekend Junior Team Members
- No experience necessary, full training provide
- Role offers approx. 3-8 hours a week

We're looking for people who are:
- Friendly and customer-focused
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team players with a positive attitude
- Available to work weekends (we're open 7 days a week)
- Available for mornings that can start at 545am during the week and 645am on weekends!

We asked our marketing team to come up with an advertising campaign that was something no other cafe had done before and would get people taking…

We probably should’ve set a budget… and a few ground rules! But solid effort team for getting us this level of exposure!!
