How it all started
Hi, I'm Elouisa.
Melting Moments Meals was never meant to be just another food business. Over 15 years ago, it began with a simple idea and a genuine desire to help people.
The inspiration came from a family friend who was newly single and admitted he didn't know how to cook for one. We would often invite him over for dinner and send him home with leftovers. Jokingly, one day he asked if he could simply buy a meal from us each night.
That conversation stayed with me.
It made me realise there were so many people who didn't qualify for government-funded meal services but still needed a helping hand. Some had never learned to cook, some were juggling busy lives, others were recovering from illness, and many simply wanted the comfort of a home-style meal without the effort of preparing it.
That simple idea became the beginning of Melting Moments Meals.
My Mum and I decided to take a leap of faith. We quit our jobs and purchased a small local café and began turning it into the meal delivery service we knew it could be.
Like many small businesses, the early years were full of long days, unexpected challenges and a lot of learning. We worked hard, adapted, and slowly built a loyal customer base who believed in what we were doing.
Before long, we had outgrown that space. We expanded into larger premises (fortunately, in the same street. Yes, we even wheeled our equipment down the footpath, and it was as funny as it sounded), built a purpose-designed commercial kitchen, and have continued adapting ever since. As demand for our ready-made meals grew, we made the decision to close the café and dedicate ourselves entirely to meal production.
When COVID-19 arrived, our community needed us more than ever. While much of the world slowed down, our team worked harder than ever to prepare and deliver meals to people who couldn't safely leave their homes. It was one of the busiest and most rewarding periods in our history, reinforcing exactly why we started this business in the first place.
Over the years we've also experienced our own family's health challenges. Watching my parents recover from serious illness gave me an even greater appreciation for the families and carers we support every day. Behind every meal order is a person, and often a family doing their very best. That experience shaped the way we care for our customers, reminding us that sometimes a friendly conversation or one less thing to worry about can make a real difference.
Today we're proud to work alongside Home Care Package/Support at Home providers, NDIS participants, hospitals, carers, support coordinators and private customers throughout Geelong and surrounding areas. Some people come to us through government-funded programs, while many simply find us through recommendations from friends, family or health professionals.
After 15 years, as our business continues to evolve, so do we. We're refreshing our menu, investing time in a new website, exploring new ways to reach our community and continuing to improve the experience we provide. While Mum is enjoying a well-earned step back from the day-to-day running of the business, I'm proud to be leading Melting Moments Meals into its next chapter, while still working alongside the family and team who helped build it.
Looking back, it's amazing to think that everything started with one simple question over dinner.
Looking ahead, our goal hasn't changed.
To prepare delicious home-style meals, provide genuine personal service, and make life just a little easier for the people who trust us every week.
