Love the outdoors? Enjoy working with young people? Looking for a casual role where no two days are the same?

Batchelor Outdoor Education Centre is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and energetic people to join our team as Casual Outdoor Education Support Staff.

📅 Start Date: Monday 13 July

Located in the beautiful township of Batchelor – the Gateway to Litchfield National Park – we provide exciting outdoor education experiences for school groups and community groups from across the Northern Territory.

What might your day look like?

🏹 Archery
🧗 Low ropes and high ropes activities
🚵 Mountain bike rides
🤝 Team building and challenge activities
💦 Swimming and Wet 'n' Wild water activities
🎯 Catapult activities
🚌 Bus trips to Litchfield National Park, including Buley Rockhole, Florence Falls and Wangi Falls

As part of our team, you'll also help with:

- Preparing and packing away activities and equipment
- General maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Cleaning accommodation cabins between camps
- Spring cleaning during school holidays
- Supporting our administration team when required
- Occasional classroom support at Batchelor Area School

We're looking for people who are:

✅ Reliable and flexible
✅ Positive, energetic and happy to work as part of a team
✅ Comfortable working with young people
✅ Willing to pitch in wherever needed
✅ Hold (or are willing to obtain) an Ochre Card and First Aid Certificate

Applicants with any of the following will be highly regarded:
⭐ Bronze Medallion
⭐ Pool Lifeguard qualifications
⭐ LR (Light Rigid) Driver Licence
⭐ Outdoor recreation or education experience
⭐ Teaching, youth work, coaching or similar experience

🕗 Working hours are generally 8:00 am to 3:00 pm during school terms when camps are operating, with occasional work during school holidays.

⚠ GREATER DARWIN ROADS UPDATE ⚠
Due to sustained rainfall, there is significant water over the road across the Stuart Highway and the Greater Darwin road network.

With more rain expected, ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY is recommended due to potentially hazardous conditions.

Please drive with caution and follow all traffic management in place.

Impacted areas currently include:
- Batchelor Road at Coomalie Creek Crossing - CLOSED
- Arnhem Highway from Corroboree Park - CLOSED
- Crater Lake Road - CLOSED
- Cox Peninsula Road - IMPASSABLE
- Jenkins Road – IMPASSABLE
- Finn Road – IMPASSABLE
- Fogg Bay Road – water over road

Elizabeth River Bridge on the Stuart Highway has water on the high level bridge - please follow directions from traffic controllers on site.

Road conditions can change rapidly and closures may be required at short notice. For the latest road information, go to roadreport.nt.gov.au

It's a little wet here in Batchelor and many people went home early due to the flooding, while they could still get home. I hope everyone is safe and dry.

Here is a very "quick" walk around at the Outdoor Education Centre today.

This week we were in full swing with all hands on deck. Our first BIG camp group of the year Good Shepherd Lutheran College NT. It was a very wet week and we were constantly trying to dodge the weather. But we made it work and we all had a great time. Thanks to all the staff and year 7 students for making this week a good one for everyone!

Our climbing wall is ready for you!!!!

Today Jan, Aaron and Tiahny spent some time refreshing their climbing and belaying skills, and making sure the wall is good to go for our upcoming visitors!

Look at this fascinating creature. She even has her tiny "friend" beside her. This lovely specimen spans about 22cm. At this stage she is safe there, but we will relocate her before our first camp arrives.

Some exciting improvements happening at BOEC over the holiday period. We can't wait to see the updated climbing wall and high ropes back in action next year!
