Alternatively a 35 minute drive takes you to "the Tip" as the locals call the the top of Australia's east coast. The beautiful blue waters of the Coral Sea, Gulf of Carpentaria & Torres Strait contain 130 islands with deserted white sand beaches featuring magnificant sunsets. Or just relax and take a swim in the pool or if you're feeling energetic throw a line in off the wharf while chatting to the locals. Cape York Peninsula Lodge is a true oasis after the 900 kilometre drive up from Cairns. Fishing and long term packages are available especially for contractors.
