Started solids and noticed bub’s a bit… backed up? You’re not doing anything wrong.

It’s one of the most common things parents message me about. When little ones move from milk to solids, their tummies are learning a whole new job. Things can slow down for a bit while they adjust. Totally normal.

Here’s the good news: a few simple foods can give them a gentle hand.

🍑 Prune is the quiet hero. It’s naturally fibre-rich and has a little something called sorbitol that helps keep things moving, softly.

🍐 Pear is juicy, naturally sweet and easy on brand-new tummies.

🍠 Sweet potato rounds it out with a smooth body and a hit of Vitamin A.

That’s the whole recipe behind our new Prune & Pear smooth puree. Three ingredients, dietitian-approved, no added salt or sugar. Just the kind of gentle first food you reach for on the tricky days.

Six chef-made cubes per pack, ready from frozen in about 2 minutes. Always handy to have a couple stashed in the freezer for when you need them.

BLW doesn’t have to be complicated. 🥑
This plate took me less than 10 minutes to pull together — and it’s got everything a growing bub needs.
Here’s what’s on it:
🌿 Kale, sweet potato & quinoa puree (Stage 2) — plopped straight on the plate for self-serving practice
🧆 Greek style meatballs — soft, flavoursome, perfect finger food
🥩 Steak strip — yes, babies can eat steak. Great for iron + grip
🥑 Avocado wedge — healthy fats and easy to hold
Baby-led weaning is about exposure, confidence, and letting them explore. It doesn’t have to be pretty — it just has to be on the plate.
Our Stage 2 purees and finger foods are chef-made and ready in 2 minutes from frozen. Easy win on a busy week night.

The origin story 🍃 Back in 2020, I was a daycare chef with mums constantly asking — how do you get them to eat so well? Good food, I’d tell them. One mum said, you should start a business with this. Looked around. No one else was doing it. So we did. That’s how Tiny Beets was born. 🤍

February flew.
From kitchen days that didn’t stop, to 1,700+ trays made and over 200 orders heading out to families.

We welcomed a new stockist at IGA Dulwich Hill (hello convenience 👋)
AND saw a big Coles restock across Sydney & Melbourne metro.

Behind the scenes, it’s been babies in carriers, laptops on kitchen tables, and planning something very special for Easter 🐣

Puree vs BLW isn’t the war the internet makes it out to be.

Because feeding isn’t about picking a side.
It’s about raising a baby who feels safe, nourished, and curious around food.

What actually matters?

✔️ Repeated exposure to real flavours
✔️ Gentle texture progression
✔️ Iron-rich foods from around 6 months
✔️ A feeding approach that fits real life

Some days that looks like smooth purée.
Some days that looks like soft finger foods.
Most days… it’s a mix.

Because babies don’t need a method.
They need options.

Save this for when feeding feels overwhelming 🤍

Plus chicken brings high-quality protein to support muscle and brain development.

Everyone has an opinion when babies start solids.v Usually unsolicited and often loud. Sometimes served with a side of judgement.
“Too risky.”
“Too messy.”
“Too lazy.”
“Don’t let them feed themselves.”
Here’s what we do know:babies learn to eat by exploring.
By touch, taste and making a mess.
There’s no single “right” way to start solids. There’s just responsive feeding, safe textures, and meeting babies where they’re at.

At Tiny Beets, we’re here to support the process from smooth purées to finger foods, from cautious first tastes to confident little hands. Save this for the next time someone has an opinion. You’ve got this. 🥕🤍

Loves purées but gags when texture changes?
That’s not “fussy”. It can be texture sensitivity.

Some babies need predictability.
Lumps feel unsafe.
Swallowing feels hard.

Stay with safe textures.
Build nutrition there.
Keep meals calm and pressure free.

Smooth isn’t a step back.
It’s a bridge.

At Tiny Beets, we meet babies where they are, not where a chart says they should be 💚

If feeding feels hard right now, this might be the missing piece. Fussy eating isn’t always about taste, texture, or “doing solids wrong”. For many babies, it’s about how their body feels at the table.
Proprioceptive input, the deep pressure that comes from chewing, pushing, holding and moving, helps regulate the nervous system and supports the complex motor skills needed for eating.
When a baby doesn’t feel grounded in their body, their mouth struggles. Gagging, spitting, big reactions to texture and are often reflexes, not behaviour.
That’s why we focus on:
• calm bodies before meals
• supportive seating during meals
• safe chewing and smooth textures
• gentle, pressure-free progression
Smooth foods aren’t a setback. They’re a bridge.
Save this for your next mealtime 💾
And follow for feeding support that meets babies and toddlers exactly where they are 💚
