Alright, alright… we heard you. 😂🎄

We were closed on Christmas Day last year and, judging by the number of people who have asked Les what we’re doing this year, some of you were not particularly happy about it.

So, we’ve had a chat with the kids, locked in the menu and can officially tell you that Rustlers is OPEN for Christmas Day 2026 and bookings are now live.

And because you’ve already been asking us what’s on the menu, what time we’re opening and how Christmas Day is going to work, we’ve put absolutely everything in one place.

The full Christmas Day menu is there for you to look through before you book, along with the details, times and booking link. No surprises. You can have a proper look, decide whether Christmas at Rustlers sounds like your kind of Christmas, then lock in your table.

And yes, we know the website page may have been live a little early and a few eagle-eyed people might have already found it. 👀 But now that it’s officially October, we’re calling it:

One month until we set the table. 🍷🥩

On Friday 30 October, Rustlers and Ironwood Estate are coming together for one night built around really good food, really good Great Southern w**e and the way the two can completely change each other when they’re paired properly.

Les is creating five courses specifically around the Ironwood w**es selected for the night, with Sam joining us to pour, talk w**e and take us through each pairing as we go.

There are only 54 seats at the table, and now we’re officially one month out.
If you’ve been thinking about joining us, now would be a very good time to get your name on one of them.

There’s a lot to fit into a day when you’re making your way around the Southern Art & Craft Trail, and we happen to think a proper sit-down lunch somewhere in the middle of it is a very good idea.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a group from Albany Tours to Rustlers as part of their Art Trail day, and afterwards Susan sent through this lovely feedback from one of their guests:

“Lunch stop was at Rustlers Steakhouse which was a high quality un-rushed lunch with a choice of main, dessert, and w**e. A delightful way to take a pause before hitting the next set of galleries!”

And really, that sounds like a pretty good Art Trail day to us. A morning exploring, a long lunch at Rustlers, then back out for another round of galleries and studios.

If you’d rather leave the planning (and the driving 😉) to someone else, Albany Tours are running their Southern Art & Craft Trail tours throughout the event, with Rustlers as the lunch stop on selected tours.

Or, if you’re doing the Trail at your own pace, come and make Rustlers your little midday pit stop. Take a seat, order something delicious and give your feet a rest before heading back out again.

This is Rustlers, after all.

So yes, there was always going to be a very good piece of steak involved.

But what Les is creating for the Ironwood x Rustlers dinner on 30 October isn’t simply a collection of Rustlers favourites.

The menu is being built specifically for this night and, more importantly, specifically around the Ironwood w**es being poured alongside it.

That means thinking about the richness of a dish, the sauce, the texture, what comes before it, what comes after it and how all of that changes when you take a sip from the glass sitting next to your plate.

We’re not giving you the full menu just yet because where’s the fun in that?

But if this photo is making you hungry, we’re quite comfortable letting it do its job.

The w**e is every bit as important as the plate. 🍷

When we started planning the Ironwood x Rustlers dinner, this was never going to be a case of choosing a menu and finding a few w**es that worked with it.

The w**es came first.

Les has been working with Sam from Ironwood Estate to build each course around the w**e it will be served with, which means every pairing on the night has been thought about from both sides of the table.

If you know Sam, you’ll also know he doesn’t just pour you a glass and leave you to it. He knows these w**es, where they came from, why they taste the way they do and exactly what makes them sing alongside food.

On Friday 30 October, he’ll be joining us at Rustlers to take you through the w**es as we work our way through five courses together.

Five courses. Ironwood w**es. One very good Friday night.

Apparently Brit’s been making a bit of a name for herself around here… 😂

We love a good review about the steaks, the food and the whole Rustlers experience, but lately there’s one name that keeps popping up in our Google reviews.

Brit.
“Absolutely phenomenal.”
“The funniest person I have ever met.”
And, perhaps most importantly, apparently nobody’s going thirsty when she’s around.

We know how much our team contributes to the experience you have when you come through our doors, so seeing one of them mentioned again and again by name is pretty lovely.

Brit, consider this your very public shoutout. We see you, our customers clearly see you, and yes, we’ve also seen the review saying you need a raise.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to leave us a review too. We read them, we share them with the team and they genuinely mean a lot.

“Supporting local” gets thrown around a lot, but for us it's not really a marketing line.

It's choosing Great Southern w**es for our w**e list when we have exceptional w**eries right here.

It's pouring b**r brewed in Albany.

It's putting locally sourced Stirling Ranges beef on the grill.

It's looking around at what our region produces and thinking, why would we not want this on our menu?

Every time we can keep another part of the Rustlers experience connected to the Great Southern, we're proud to do it.

Because this is our home too.

And there is a hell of a lot here worth celebrating.

Name a better pair

There are some decisions at dinner that require careful consideration.

This isn't really one of them.

A beautifully cooked steak and a Great Southern red just belong together.

Our w**e list is entirely Great Southern sourced, which means whether you're leaning towards something from Denmark, Mt Barker, Frankland, Porongurup or elsewhere in the region, your glass hasn't had to travel very far to meet what's on your plate.

And when the steak itself is sourced from Stirling Ranges Beef?

Well, that's a pretty convincing argument for keeping dinner local. 🍷🥩

For this dinner, the w**e isn’t being chosen after the menu. It’s part of creating it.

Ironwood Estate sits amongst the ancient Porongurup landscape, producing cool-climate w**es just up the road from us here in the Great Southern.

For our dinner on 30 October, Sam from Ironwood and Les from Rustlers are bringing both sides of the table together.

Instead of simply creating five courses and finding w**es to match afterwards, the food and w**e are being considered together. How the acidity in a w**e can lift a richer element on the plate. How fruit, spice or oak can pick up flavours in a dish. And sometimes, how one small change can make both taste completely different.

You don't need to know any of that to enjoy it, of course. That's their job.

Yours is to sit down, eat, drink and discover what happens when the right plate meets the right glass.
