Did you miss yesterday’s reunion? You can still be part of the conversation.

Thank you to everyone who came. After such a long time, it was genuinely lovely to sit down together again and hear what living gluten free really looks like for you now not in theory, but in everyday life, with all the frustrations and difficulties that still come with it.

We talked about real problems, shared honest experiences and uncovered some very interesting ideas. Several people have since written to tell me they wanted to be there but couldn’t make it, and I don’t want the conversation to end with those who were able to attend. I would really like to hear from you too.

I’m not planning to reopen Just Gluten Free. That chapter of my life is closed, but the connection we created through it isn’t. What I want to understand now is whether there is a different way I can still be useful to this community.

I haven’t decided what comes next or whether anything should come next at all. This isn’t generic market research and I’m not trying to sell you something. I need real answers from the people who live this life: what is difficult now, what is missing and what kind of information, resources or support could genuinely make a difference.

I’ve put together a short questionnaire that takes about 2–3 minutes. It’s for everyone whether you joined us, wanted to come but couldn’t, or have only just discovered the reunion.

I’m not looking for perfect answers; I’m looking for honest ones. Your feedback will help me see whether there is something genuinely useful I can do and what that should look like in real life.

As a little bonus, at the end you can choose to receive the recording of the reunion as soon as it’s ready.

👉 Share your thoughts here: https://forms.gle/e2Z6WGeLQ1fruTEp8

Completing the questionnaire won’t automatically add you to a mailing list. You can decide separately whether you would like to stay in touch.

Just Gluten Free may be a chapter I have closed, but I’m not ready to close the door on this community. Your answers will help me understand where we go from here.

Hello my beautiful friends ❤️

I think it’s finally time for us to see each other again.

It has been such a long time, and after everything that has happened over the last year, I really feel I want to reconnect with you properly.

So, this Sunday 19 July, I’ll be at Adelaide Showground Farmers Market for a little get-together.

No cooking demonstration. No formal presentation.

Just me, you, and a good chat. 😊

I want to hear how you’ve been, what gluten-free life looks like for you today, what you still struggle with, what drives you crazy… and I also want to tell you a little about where I am today and some of the things that have been going through my head lately. 😉

Many of you have been part of my life and the Just Gluten Free story for years. You followed my journey, supported me and, especially over the last year, sent me so much love.

I think it’s finally time for me to say hello in person. ❤️

The event is free, but please register as seating is limited and registered attendees will be given priority for available seats.

Hi everyone,

One year ago today, I shared a photo of my mum after her liver transplant and told you that a new chapter was beginning.

What I didn’t know then was that the hardest part of the journey was still ahead of us.

Many of you will remember that, three months after the transplant, Mum caught Covid and developed severe pneumonia. We ended up back in ICU, where doctors gave her only a 15–20% chance of survival. Against all odds, she fought her way through and came home.

We thought that would be the end of the story.

It wasn’t.

The months that followed were some of the most difficult we have ever faced. The removal of her KER drain did not go as planned and led to further complications, more hospital stays, more procedures, more pain, more fear, and more uncertainty.

Then came the fractures.

What started as back pain became the discovery of multiple vertebral fractures and severe osteoporosis, caused by the massive doses of steroids that had been necessary to save her life during her battle with pneumonia. There were months when she could barely move. Months of constant pain, tears, frustration, setbacks, and exhaustion.

And yet...

She never stopped fighting.

Every time life knocked her down, she somehow found the strength to get back up again.

Today, exactly one year after her transplant, we received the words we have been waiting so long to hear.

The doctors are happy. The liver is healthy. Everything is working as it should.

For the first time in a very long time, Mum can finally start living again instead of simply surviving.

Today I don't just want to celebrate a successful transplant.

I want to celebrate resilience.

I want to celebrate every person who refuses to give up when life becomes unfair. Every person who keeps going through pain, fear, disappointment and uncertainty. Every person who falls and finds the courage to stand up again.

Most of all, I want to celebrate my mum.

She is the true hero of this story. She is my hero. My rock. The strongest woman I know.

Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

A chapter filled with freedom, new memories, family, travel, laughter, and all the things that illness tried so hard to take away.

It's time to celebrate. It's time to live again.

With all my love,

Sabine ❤️

Hi everyone,
I am sorry for my long silence, but the last few months have been incredibly tough and I needed to step back for a moment, breathe, and stay close to my family.

Some of you might remember the little video I shared of my mum, the one where she lifted her thumb and said “Hello” just two days after her surgery. At that time it seemed she was slowly recovering and moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately, just as she reached the 3 month mark of her recovery, everything changed suddenly. She caught Covid, which triggered a severe pneumonia. From one day to the next we were back in ICU, and the doctors prepared us for the worst, they gave her only a 15 to 20 percent chance of survival.

Those weeks were devastating.
We reached the point of the oxygen helmet, moments I hope no one ever has to experience.
But my mum is a fighter, stubborn, strong, impossible to break, and she fought with everything she had, and against all odds, she made it.

She stayed in hospital for a month, but she came out, and now day by day she is getting stronger again. She has so much energy, sometimes too much, because she tends to push herself more than she should, but that is just who she is.
(And yes… she might remind you of someone 😅)

Now we have one last delicate step ahead on the 19th of December, when they will remove her final drain, the KER. The doctors warned us that this part can be a bit tricky and may cause fever or require a short hospital stay, but we remain optimistic, and whatever comes, we will face it together, as we have done until now.

I also want to thank every single one of you for the love you have continued to send me. Your messages and emails have helped me get through even the darkest moments. Even if I did not reply, I read everything and kept your words in my heart every single day. I will never stop thanking you, you are a wonderful community.

Thank you again to everyone who reached out or worried during my silence,
It truly meant a lot.

With love, Sabine ###x
