🕊️ "81 A-Kyaw Sine (Fritter Shop)" – Mother Suu Birthday Charity & IDP Support Fundraising Event ✨

Dear Customers,

Yet another event with a much-requested menu: Burmese A-Kyaw (Assorted Burmese Fritters)!

🇲🇲 In Myanmar, A-kyaw is the ultimate all-day comfort food. While it’s a favorite morning companion to a bowl of Mohinga, it is arguably most popular during afternoon tea time. You can find A-kyaw shops almost everywhere. There is nothing quite like combining the soft, chewy texture of steamed sticky rice with the hot, crispy crunch of a traditional fritter. It’s a sensory memory that connects all of us to home, no matter where we are.

To bring that nostalgic atmosphere right here to our community, we are opening our own pop-up "81 Fritter Shop" Fundraising Event!

❤ June 19th marks the 81st birthday of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. To honor her and support those in real need back home, all proceeds will go toward providing daily food and medical supplies for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Myanmar.

👋 Our kitchen is proud to step in as the Main Sponsor for this event. We will be personally cooking and prepping crispy, fresh Burmese Fritters including everyone's favorite, crunchy Buu-thee-Jaw (Long Melon Fritters)etc.!

🤝 Even though we are far from home, let’s gather to enjoy warm, soft steamed sticky rice and traditional Burmese fritters over milk tea, share fond memories, and make a difference together. This is an exclusive event for just 40 guests, split across two sessions to keep things cozy.

📅 Date & Timeslots

Date: Sunday, 28th June
Timeslot 1: 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM (Limited to 20 people)

We’ve got some of our absolute favorite snacks straight from the manufacturer!

Feel free to check out the MFG (manufacturing) and EXP (expiry) dates. There are no stickers covering up the original dates here. 💯

This does mean we only have a very limited quantity... and if they don't sell fast, my family and I will definitely eat them all before they expire! 😁 But of course, we love sharing a taste of home with our beloved customers first.

Here is what we have:

1) Egg Ma-Yway (မန္တလေးက ကြက်ဥမရွေး) — $14.50

This one is my son’s absolute favorite! Out of all the Burmese snacks I’ve introduced to him, not all of them were to his liking but he loves this one. Made with flour, honey, sugar, cooking oil, egg, and roasted sesame seeds, it’s wonderfully sweet with a subtle, creamy richness.

2) U Lar Burmese Potato Chips from Taunggyi (တောင်ကြီးက ဦးလာတံဆိပ်အာလူးကြော်) — $18

A friend proudly recommended this potato chip brand from Taunggyi in the Shan State. Ironically, I never got to try this local specialty back when I lived in Myanmar because it was too far away. Now, living on the other side of the hemisphere, I’m blessed with the chance to try these freshly made-to-order Taunggyi chips and you can too! It’s the perfect movie-night snack that you won't be able to stop eating.

The Taste of Memory: Sarr Mote (ဆားမုန့်) ☕✨

We all have a taste or smell that takes us right back to childhood. It’s why we crave our mom’s cooking, or miss a simple meal just because of the family trip attached to it.

For me, Sarr Mote (ဆားမုန့်) is exactly that. It’s the memory of my mom bringing home a treat after work, and of my teenage years buying it from a friend's store in Chinatown.

🤤 What is it?

A traditional savory pastry with a rich, roasted sesame aroma and a subtle hint of saltiness that keeps you coming back for more. It pairs perfectly with tea or coffee for a quick breakfast or afternoon snack.

Freshly Arrived in Adelaide! 🇦🇺🛬

We secured a fresh, made-to-order batch directly from Mandalay, and it just landed in Adelaide a week ago!

💡 If you know it: You know how good it is.
👋 If you’re new to it: This is your sign to try a classic.

💸 Price: $8.50 per pack
Stock: Very limited! Grab yours before my friends and I eat it all ourselves! 🤣
