Emperor Franz Joseph had this quiet retreat built for his beloved Sisi. ✨

He hoped the Hermesvilla would give the travel-loving Empress Elisabeth a place where she would want to stay a little longer in Vienna.

Today, the Hermesvilla lies in the middle of the Lainzer Tiergarten and belongs to the Wien Museum. You can visit the villa and combine it with one of the loveliest walks in Vienna.

These walls come with history. 💜🩵💛

Look closer: the wallpapers on our third floor are based on original Biedermeier patterns from the early 19th century.

Together with the Technisches Museum Wien, these historical designs were faithfully reproduced in their original colours and brought back to life in our rooms.

Flowers, leaves, geometric patterns and wonderfully bold colour combinations. Each wallpaper tells a little story of its own and gives every room a completely different character.

And yes, we definitely have favourites. Which one is yours? 💛

🥂🍴🎤LVDWIG Long Table Society: One long table. Great food. Live music. 🥂🍴🎤
And a room full of people who started the evening as strangers and left having shared something special. ✨

Our first LVDWIG Long Table Society was such a lovely evening that we knew straight away: we have to do it again.

So on 30 September, we’re setting the table once more.
Georg Pajor will serve a seasonal four-course menu, Jengis will accompany the evening with live music, and Barbara Ludwig will be your host for the night.

A floor full of music, memories and a little piece of Biedermeier Vienna. 🎶

I grew up with piano music, house concerts and Biedermeier furniture. My mother loved collecting antiques, and today some of those pieces, along with memories of music at home, have found a new place at Hotel Beethoven.

Our third floor brings together some of the names and traditions that shaped Vienna’s Biedermeier life: Waldmüller, Haydn, Liszt, Schubert, the Viennese Waltz, the Strauss dynasty and, of course, Beethoven himself.

But look a little closer at the walls.

Every wallpaper on this floor is based on an original historical Biedermeier design. Together with the Technisches Museum Wien, the patterns were faithfully reproduced in their original colours. 💛

Two museums. One empress in the middle. And one of Vienna’s most beautiful squares. ✨

On one side, the Kunsthistorisches Museum. On the other, the Naturhistorisches Museum. And between them, Maria Theresa has been keeping an eye on both.

Leopold and I pass by here almost every day on our walk. 🐾 From Hotel Beethoven, it’s just a lovely walk away. 💛
