Happy International Women*s Day for everyone! Swipe right for more text in the images!
If you find traces of patriarchy in your kitchen, it may be time for some spring cleaning! 🧹💜
because of recent developments and news across Europe, all the way to LA, but also discussions for the last few years about pubs and restaurants, bistros to high class fine dining in our wonderful Vienna, we feel compelled to take stand.
As you can see, we didn't name these restaurants and bistros. It's not because it's a secret, it's all over the news and the internet. It's easy to find, and rightly so, read upon it, and make your own impression.
For International Women's Day, and also in general, we find it important to talk about collective experiences, where the extreme abuse, sexism, homophobia, violence and harsh tone is just tip of the iceberg, the experiences chefs in gastronomy all over the world make, are too often too similar, even if "not as bad". It's tough enough to be anyone wanting to be a chef as a male. Being a women, or a migrant, or LGBTIQAN*, POC, neurodiverse, or a mixture of any of these, doesn't make it any easier either!
On the plus side, it's being talk about, more and more, awareness and mental health as well as physical health are not ignored anymore everywhere, and good teams might be hard to find, but more and more existing!
Tag your favourite Women* run places, your inclusive Chefs, send them these post, and encourage and support inclusive, healthy approaches to hospitality!
