Recap on the Rotterdam harvest dinners at four city gardens in September 🍲
It couldn't have been better! It was 25 degrees Celsius, a light breeze, all preparations were running smoothly, the chefs were in the mood and our guests enjoyed the delicious local, seasonal and nature-inclusive grown food!
As part of the “Rotterdam de Boer op” dagen and National Park Rotterdam, four food-producing city gardens organised harvest dinners. During the day, Rotterdammers could visit farmers and gardeners around Rotterdam, and in the evening they could join the urban harvest dinners. At each garden, a chef conjured up a wonderful menu: Jim de Jong of Renilde at the Tuinderij de Stadsboerin; Esther van Leeuwen of Smaak van de Waard at the Voedseltuin; Tess and Bram of the Noodlebar at VTV Eigen Hof (their very last dinner of the Noodlebar) and Anne Regina stirred in the pans at Food forest De Overtuin.
It was an unforgettable evening. While enjoying dinner, nearly 220 dining guests were updated on the need and necessity of local, seasonal and nature-inclusive food production. The beginning of a new tradition: Next year they will do it again. But then with even more gardens and even more guests so that the message 'Eat naturally local is the new normal' will spread over the city.🌳
