The Middle East and the Caribbean combine for an unbelievable feast at Little Jerusalem. Originally, Abraham is from Palestine, and his wife Cathy is from St Croix, U.S Virgin Islands. Abraham met Cathy in St Croix after he migrated as a refugee to the island. They have been in Sint Maarten since 1989, where they first owned Sheik Supermarket on L.B Scott Road until they opened Little Jerusalem in

2011, bringing the flavors of the Middle East to the Friendly Island. After opening Little Jerusalem, they started down a new path of fusing two flavorful cuisines under one roof for food that is truly unlike any other. One of their most popular sandwiches—The Special Shawarma—is inspired by the mix of cultures on the island. They cook chicken and lamb with sauteed bell peppers and Gouda cheese and stuff it in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and their famous Shawarma sauce. Doesn’t your mouths water just thinking about it! Cathy and Abe are both inspired by serving the best and most affordable food to new customers and old customers that have been returning since the first year we opened. It's great to hear customers from Wisconsin, Boston, Colorado, New York, Chicago, France and so many more places, say that this is one of the first places they eat on the island when they visit St Maarten. This is why we love our work: meeting so many people from around the world and introducing them to our flavorful Shawarma that is always made to order which guaranteed freshness!
