With another inconvenience coming at us in the middle of an already demotivating and demoralizing season, it is easy to become angry and lose hope.

Some are even asking me why I don’t lash out or respond more aggressively at this point. Trust me, I do, expletives included.

And while I’m quite outspoken against injustices and other ills from my perspective, I also tend to not get too perturbed by things I cannot control, often focusing on and tackling what I can.

Today as we await the passing of Ernesto, some of us in darkness for hours on end, let us take some time to reflect on what’s really important.

I believe that the COVID-19 pandemic gave us all some down time, and many of us did some serious introspection and came out better humans for it.

Today, we should vent as a way to release frustration, but let’s also continue to be the proud, resilient people that we are. Let’s do what we can around our homes, safeguard potential projectiles, place containers to catch water from leaks, fill up machines and other containers with water, make johnny cakes (I just did), etc.

Let’s remain vigilant and look out for our loved ones during the passing of Ernesto. Above all, let’s continue to have hope and actively commit to working for change, for a brighter future for all.
