My mother was one of the strongest, bravest, and most courageous women I have ever known. She stood by me through every dream, always believing in me and supporting me without hesitation.
I lost my father when I was just 9 years old. From that day on, my mother single-handedly raised her six children, 5 girls and a boy. She carried every responsibility on her shoulders, gave us the best life she could, saw us through our education, and got us married. Everything we are today is because of her strength, resilience, and unconditional love.
For my mother, every celebration was an opportunity to bring her family together. Whether it was Christmas, Onam, Easter, or any other occasion, she made sure that all of us came together and celebrated it in all its glory. She would prepare every dish that needed to be made, making sure that not a single thing was missed. And whenever guests came to our home, she made absolutely sure that their stomachs were full and, more importantly, that their hearts were full. No one ever left our home without being fed, cared for, and made to feel loved. That was simply who she was. Her love was expressed through her food, her hospitality, and the way she made everyone feel like they belonged.
Many of the Kerala recipes I've shared on YouTube are actually my mother's recipes. Her Vattayappam is the perfect recipe, loved by everyone who tasted it. In that video, it is my mother herself making her famous Vattayappam, and I will forever treasure that memory.
Throughout her life, she carried many beautiful titles—daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She gave justice to every one of those roles with grace, love, and selflessness. She fulfilled every responsibility with all her heart, touching the lives of everyone around her.
Thank you, Amma, for everything. Your love will continue to live on in our hearts, in your recipes, and in the values you instilled in us. You may no longer be with us, but your legacy will remain with us forever.
Rest in peace, Amma. You will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. ❤️
