MC Churro was born in 2016 at Hazel Food Market in Pretoria, where we served our first churros. Our queue always intertwined with the bubble tea Queue. We always said, “One day we’ll open a churro café… and we’ll serve boba too.”
From there, we packed trailers, our van and dessert truck, woke before sunrise, and travelled from markets to concerts, festivals and corporate events, sharing our little brand with thousands of people. We were lucky enough to be part of incredible events like Southdowns, Neighbourgoods Market, Festival de México, Rage Expo, Comic Con, we often popped up at the American embassy and even did private events for the Spring Boks and their families.
Those weekends shaped who we are. The early mornings, long queues, familiar faces, and the incredible market community gave MC Churro its heart. 🖤
Today, when you walk into our café, you’re seeing a dream that started in a little market out of a borrowed gazebo ten years ago.
To everyone who bought a churro, told a friend, came back week after week, or simply believed in us… thank you. You helped build MC Churro into what it is today. for those of you who have been with us from the start, the Eastern Cape is beautiful, pop in when you’re on holiday!
Here’s to where we started, and to everything still to come.
