There’s something truly special about sourdough — the crackling crust, the open crumb, and the deep flavour that only time and patience can create.

Join us at The Culinary Loft for a two-day, hands-on sourdough experience with guest baker Juan Nel. You’ll work with his mother starter, Betsy, as he guides you through mixing, stretching, folding, shaping and baking your own beautiful artisan loaf.

We’ve also added a few thoughtful extras to make the experience even more special. A light lunch is included, creating a relaxed space to learn, bake and enjoy good food together.

Tomorrow we’re rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands floury as we make homemade gnocchi from scratch!

Soft, pillowy little dumplings made with love (and a lot of giggles), served with a delicious homemade sauce. Your little chefs will learn how to mix, roll, shape and cook their own gnocchi — building real kitchen confidence while having so much fun.

Cooking teaches independence, creativity and patience… and of course they get to eat their delicious masterpiece at the end 😋

As most people know we do home cooked meals. I’ve been asked so many times to share the story on how I do the menu for the week a bit more so here it goes..

It’s not random for me and I don’t rush it.

I usually sit with the ideas for a few hours, even days. I think about flavours, balance, practicality and what feels right for the week ahead.

I check the weather (for the week and hope it stays). Hot days make me look at lighter meals. Cooler days naturally draw me toward comfort food.

My life also plays a big role. If I’ve had a busy weekend, I might feel like I need a huge food reset and that energy flows into the menu.

My children influence a lot more than they probably realise. This week they’ve asked for curry because they want to pick the leaves off my curry tree — and honestly, that kind of moment shapes things.

They inspire me constantly… but they also don’t get every meal they request 😅 It’s a balance. I listen, I take it into consideration and then I still make decisions based on the bigger picture — my customers.

Sometimes inspiration comes from a conversation, someone mentioning a dish they love or share a food memory and I tuck it away until it feels right to bring it out.

When I plan, I always ask myself:
If I sat at your table, what would make your family feel comfortable, nourished and happy?

I want it to feel like home — familiar, generous and real. And every now and then, something a little special… but still simple enough to make sense for everyday life.

I don’t always get it right — but I care about it deeply and I put thought into every menu and every dish has its own story🤍

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of collaborating on a beautiful private dining evening in an intimate home setting ✨

Chef Classy from Yummy Bean Cafe — you were incredible. Your bold flavours, calm energy and generosity in the kitchen truly made the night what it was.

Our collaboration felt seamless and the guests absolutely loved what we created together. The feedback, the full plates, the lingering conversations around the table — it all said enough.

❤️Happy Valentine’s Day❤️

To the lovers, the besties, the families, the singletons and everyone in between — this day is for you.

And if you just realised… “Oh no. It’s today.” 😅

Don’t panic. We got you!

Grab the flowers. Don’t worry about reservations. You just need one really good plate of food.

🍝 Creamy Garlic Chicken & Mushroom Pasta (serves 2)

You’ll need:
• 2 chicken breasts, sliced
• 200 g mushrooms, sliced
• 250 g pasta (cooked)
• 2 tbsp butter or oil
• 3 cloves garlic, crushed
• 1 cup cream
• Salt & pepper
• Optional: grated cheese

How:
1. Pan-fry chicken until golden
2. Add mushrooms and cook until soft
3. Stir in garlic, pour in cream, simmer 3–4 mins
4. Toss with pasta, season, serve

Plate it. Light a candle (or not 😄). Enjoy.
