**Further opening times update**

As I start my return back to the UK, and needing some personal space, we have decided to close tomorrow Friday 26th and Saturday 27th of June. Sunday 28th will remain closed as usual. For the week commencing 29th June until Saturday 4th July we will continue with the reduced hours of 8am to 4pm with a view of going back to our core hours of 8am to 6pm from Monday 6th July, eager to get back to the swing of things and seeing and chatting to everyone, old friends, new friends and yet to become friends.

I also really want to say thank you to Matthew for staying behind holding the fort and making everything run smoothly (even making ice cream himself! 💙 as well as his yummy soups and pretty much everything else that needed doing without me there). Also to Ailish and Katie for being the bestest ever in supporting me and Matthew ensuring Cafe Elgol continues to be the amazing and welcoming space that we created together. And I could not miss thanking those friends in our community who also helped keep things running at the cafe in the periphery and that also kept me going lending me an ear. Thank you to you all, forever in your debt.

**Further temporary opening update**

Unfortunately due to personal reasons we have made the decision to continue working on reduced hours next week, Monday 22nd to Saturday 27th June. The temporary reduced hours are from 8am to 4. Sunday 28th will be closed as usual.

We hope to be back to normal hours from Monday 29th June. Any updates will be communicated ahead of time.

Also a gentle reminder that we will be closed altogether tomorrow, June 20th.

Please note, due to personal reasons we will be closing early tomorrow, Thursday 18th and Friday 19th of June. For both days we will open 8am to 4pm. We will remain closed Saturday 20th of June.

We hope to be back to normal opening hours from next week. Watch this space!

Thank you to the fantastic team at the cafe who have done great at holding the fort whilst Matthew and I have been away.

These are not decisions we take lightly and we thank you for your understanding.

It’s been a busy morning again so far and after running out of ice cream (an a few other things too!) yesterday, the freezer is now well stocked again (with extra just in case, yes, it was a long night! But we got it done!).

We also have all our menu that you can take away with you if you’re walking, going on the boats or just visiting our beautiful Elgol! Sandwiches, salads, small bites, local seafood, pies, cakes, pastries, coffees, speciality teas and plenty of cold drinks too! Soft as well as our beloved Dun Brewing beers from Glenelg, (alcohol free and gluten free beers also available!) Scottish ciders and also wine! So definitely something for everyone!

Come and grab your picnic foods and enjoy some handcrafted ice cream by yours truly!

Chai Lattes are definitely here to stay! They have proven so popular! You can have the traditional Chai Lattes yet or the dirty version (with a shot of coffee), which one would you go for?

These are a traditional Chai Lattes and a regular Latte expertly poured by Ailish!

Finally I get to share with you our two latest additions!

Alcohol Free “Lucky Saint” Unfiltered Lager aaaaaand a Gluten Free “Bellfield” Bohemian Pilsner, feedback so far has been fab, so these are now here to stay, for sure!

Thank you to everyone who came to the cafe today. What a day! We nearly run out of cake (already, yes!) and everything else was a touch and go, but we made it through! Back home this evening to bake and prep more seafood as we go again tomorrow!

Knackered you say? An understatement! And it’s only Monday! Haha! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️

And thank you to Ailish, who puts up with all my singing (she loves it really!) and she works her magic to help everything run smoothly and also to the other half, don’t know how many times I made the joke of “it’s bring your husband to work kind of a day” but if it wasn’t for him jumping in when I need him most, who knows how the day would have gone… Matthew Baqueriza-Jackson

2 new cakes added today to our counter of deliciousness, we had pretty much run out yesterday! Yay!

The happy accident (that keeps on giving) Red Velvet & Nutella and a definite favourite of mine, Lemon & Blueberry!

Oh, what a week indeed! I know I’ve been quiet (what, me? Never!) but we’ve been so so busy and I couldn’t be more grateful for all your support! Love to see both locals and visitors come back and back again and meeting new people too, so many interesting stories from all over the world (note to self, take updated photo of our cafe map!).

I don’t think there’s an item on the menu that didn’t go out of our kitchen this week. I’ve had to make plenty more ice cream (amazing weather!), plenty sandwiches, pies, langoustines (I may have pinched one or too), toasted filled croissants, bacon and lorne in the mornings, the lot! And plenty coffees, teas, chai lattes (dirty ones too!) and cakes, caramel shorbread, cruffins, and the rest… and the amount of beer was phenomenal! (A visit to Glenelg soon to restock is a must!)

A day of rest (well, baking and ice cream making too) tomorrow and back to it on Monday! 💪🏻

Thanks to all the lovely ladies that support me on a daily basis at the cafe and also to the other half, who gets drafted in when I need extra help!

Enough from me for this week. Time to relax at home with Matthew and the boys 💙
