Down on the water in Manchac, LA, Middendorfs Restaurant is the kind of place you hear about once and immediately want to try. You pull up, catch that swampy breeze, and step inside to a lively, old-school dining room that smells like hot oil and lemon. You start with those famous paper-thin fried catfish filletslight, crisp, and gone way too fastthen add a bowl of gumbo or a plate of shrimp for something extra hearty. You round it out with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and a cold drink while the chatter and clatter make it feel like a true local tradition. Parkings easy, portions are generous for the price, and the staff keeps things moving even when its busy. You leave full, happy, and already plotting your next trip back.
