In recent months we’ve seen way too many businesses that we know and love struggle to stay open. Not because they don’t offer amazing products and services, but because of barriers like predatory leases, hidden property costs, big developers, unreasonable rent increases, etc.

This isn’t just about one business navigating hardship. This impacts entire communities. Neighborhoods are left without green spaces, safe places, and opportunities to circulate dollars throughout their communities.

TOGETHER WE’RE GREATER. That’s why we are partnering with to launch the “Together We’re Greater” fundraiser to support

I'm here to tell you that angels are real :-) Thanks to Prosperity Market co-founders Carmen Dianne and Kara Still the LA Times has picked up Cali Coffee's story!

The article introduces the Together We're Greater (https://www.prosperitymarketla.com/its-bigger-than-us-initiative/) fundraiser, which is dedicated to keeping Black-owned businesses in Los Angeles open, despite systemic barriers.
I am honored that The California Coffee Company is one of the four businesses featured to benefit from this fund.

Catch a wave every day.

Hello,

On Saturday, I visited the Bay Street beach in Santa Monica, sometimes called "The Inkwell." I went for relaxation and inspiration because it was at this site where The California Coffee Company (https://calicoffee.co/) was born.

Walking on Water (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL2PSzBm74Y) inspired me to study Black surfing communities in South America. In the process, I learned that their ancestors were enslaved-- not to grow cotton like in the USA, but coffee. How remarkable that a product I love, that I interact with every day has deep African roots?!
