Honestly, nearly every owner at the market is struggling like this. If you want the businesses you love to continue to be here then you have to come out and support them. Especially through the changes and construction, I know it's hard to find parking and inconvenient to not have the extra bathrooms; but, this is the time that could make or break it.
I'm aware the economy is really tight - so many of us are struggling! But a lot of us small businesses could really use your patronage right now too. For me personally, this is how I provide for my family as a single Mom.
It's getting strained enough that I'm actively looking as to what my next phase of life looks like post Under The Elder Tree if things don't change soon. Who knows, maybe it's actually time for something different. Afterall, I'm not getting any younger and I still have other goals in life that I haven't yet achieved.... But I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel yet, and I won't go down without a fight for what I've worked so many decades to build. The online Tea Shop, in fact, is the first step to possibly disconnect from the building, the district, and the city. So if I decide to dissolve, I can still serve & reach those who regularly depend so much on what I offer here- wherever I land. Maybe I'll just go back to the basics somewhere. like in the beginning, when it was a tiny shop with just me and everything in one room. That actually sounds kind of relieving about now. Simplicity and less overhead to worry about.
