What an unexpectedly beautiful day at Mount Nebo Baptist Church. ❤️
If we measured today only by ice cream sales, it was a pretty slow day. But thankfully, not everything that matters can be measured by what comes through the register.
Robert reconnected with a friend he hadn’t seen in more than 30 years. We pulled out the games we bought for Kool Kids Ice Cream and, because things were slow, Robert, our business assistant, and I ended up playing, laughing, competing, and simply enjoying the day together.
But one of my favorite moments happened quietly on the side.
I watched our business assistant witnessing to a young man named Ishmael. At only 16 years old, it was such a blessing to see this young man on fire for God. It’s one thing for someone to tell you they love God; it’s another thing to witness it for yourself.
And somewhere between the games, the laughter, old friends reconnecting, new people crossing our path, and simply enjoying a beautiful day, I realized something:
We may not have sold a lot of ice cream today, but the day was far from unproductive.
We made memories. We strengthened relationships. We witnessed ministry. We laughed. We rested. And we were reminded that sometimes God gives you a different kind of return than the one you were expecting.
The sales were light, but the blessings certainly weren’t.
Some days you count the sales.
Other days, you count the smiles, the connections, and the moments that remind you what really matters.
Today was one of those days.
