“Congratulations – You Are Now an ACS Certified Cheese Professional®”
I had been anxiously awaiting this notification since taking the CCP exam back in July. So proud to achieve this cheese career milestone, sitting for and passing an exam that tests a wide breadth of knowledge from dairy farming, to cheesemaking, to history and tradition, to supply chain and distribution, to retail operations and food service. I managed to carve out time to study, while Oscar napped, while Aurora played, while grandparents stepped in and wrangled them both. It feels SO GOOD to set this goal for myself and really commit and follow all the way through.
I want to give a few special shout outs:
Thanks to the facilitators of great study groups, Bill Stephenson and Nathan Aldridge Nathan’s Cheese Kitchen Nathan Aldridge
Thanks to Wisconsin Cheese and the Cheese State University community cultivated by Dean of Mongers, Molly Browne Molly
Thanks to the Edgartown Public Library for being the site of many productive study sessions
Thanks to the countless authors and contributors to the Oxford Companion to Cheese and American Farmstead Cheese
Thanks to Zoe Brickley, cheese math goddess
Thanks to the wonderful Jasper Hill Farm weirdos for uplifting, esoteric cheese propaganda
Thanks to the The Cheesemonger Invitational for throwing a hell of a party and giving us a chance to try so many cheeses from “the list”
Thanks to my study buddy and cheese mom bestie Britt Britt Bisset, ACS CCP for the weekly sanity checks and nerdiest text discourse
Thanks to Forever Cheese for sponsoring the scholarship that allowed me to attend the ACS conference and sit for the exam in person
And most importantly, thanks to the most supportive husband and grandparent squad for encouraging me to chase this big goal and for caring for the cheese monsters while I was away.
This Fairy Cheesemother is just getting started 🧀✨
