It’s Oktoberfest in Vermillion! We’re popping up on Saturday at XIX Brewing Company immediately following the Beer Mile… which Gunnar is of course participating in with everyone’s favorite local trivia master, Doug. We’ll start serving around “noonish” given this is the first time he’s attempted such a feat.

This weekend’s special is a three-way collab featuring a XIX Brewing Company brew in Scholar’s MUSEstard, crafted by the folks at The Spicy Turntable. We’re using it as the base plus kraut, bratwurst… you know the drill. Add some fresh red onion, smoked gruyere and a generous sprinkle of Cyprus flake sea salt on the crust (pretzel style) and you’ve got the Oktoberfeast!

The game will be on and The Spicy Turntable will be set up with all kinds of samples (and stuff to purchase too!) Prost! 🍺🍕🌶️

PSA: We’re approaching the very end of the season, but the Colorado peaches are exquisite right now. Earlier this week my mom insisted we take one home and the kids could hardly believe how delicious they tasted when paired with ricotta, basil and balsamic vinegar. Come to XIX Brewing Company on Friday starting at 5:30 PM and find out for yourself!🍑

And just a note of gratitude. Last weekend we made a record 265 pizzas!!! Thank you to Ribs Rods & Rock’n Roll for another stellar event and to our dear friend Tony Clanton for once again inviting us to cook for his end of summer party. Thank you to Faith Stachowski and Jena Jones for all your hard work.💪And hugs to each and every person who stopped by to chat and enjoyed our food. Starting this Friday at XIX Brewing Company!

When the kids were little, Grandma Deb decided they would learn the proper term for eggplant... “aubergine.” To this day, they still use it sometimes. Once again, my Dad’s garden is bursting and we’ve been tasked with ensuring none of the aubergine goes to waste. We’ll be roasting it with herbs (also from the garden) and pairing it with ‘Nduja, a smoky/spicy sausage from the Calabria region of Southern Italy.

We’re going to be coming in hot for Friday’s service, so we had to call in reinforcements.

This week it’s all about the crust… I mean it’s kinda always about that, but on Friday we’re dressing her up with “2 Chicky Ladies Reaper Chive Dusting Power,” handcrafted by Spicy Turntable a fellow local small business that is doing all kinds of interesting things and growing their own peppers to boot! We bought one of practically everything when we spotted them at the Vermillion Area Farmers Market a few weeks ago. Give them a follow!

Come grab a 🍕 and a 🍺 this Friday at XIX Brewing Company starting at 5:30 PM and stick around for National Park Trivia hosted by Friends of the Missouri National Recreational River. And for goodness sakes, protect our treasured river and beloved national parks at all costs!

Everyone needs an auntie like Bec Jones. She’d do anything for us, including move to South Dakota (which she is doing very soon!) She’s visiting for the weekend to celebrate her birthday so we’re pulling out another favorite from last year – the Joojeh. Our love letter to the place Bec spent much of her childhood and home of our favorite cuisine in the whole wide world. 🇮🇷 We love you Bec! Happy birthday!
