A peek into my dad’s beautiful garden. We’re so lucky to reap all the benefits and do none of the work (it’s a lot of work). This summer he planted extra (extra, extra) basil so we have plenty for our pies. Last year’s bountiful harvest led to one of my favorite specials of all time which is returning this week - the Summertime. Our scratchmade ricotta, razor thin lemon slices, shallot, a pinch of chili flakes, toasty sesame seeds, and of course a generous helping of the freshest basil grown right here in Clay County. We’ll be at XIX Brewing Company on Friday night starting at 5:30!

Huge thanks to everyone who got a Notaburger this month and to Vermillion, SD for organizing an epic Burger Battle. Shout out to Jena Jones and Summer for all the help despite absolutely brutal temperatures. And of course our village of grandparents for keeping the children alive… and getting them hooked on Leave it to Beaver. Looking forward to a slightly more chill August (I think?)

Epic show hangover from one of the biggest and best productions I’ve ever been part of. No words for the love I feel for our Vermillion Community Theatre family... and Gunnar for all the extra weight he pulls around here so I can do it every year.

We’re in the middle of some big [good!] life transitions over here and I’m happy to be Burger Battling for the rest of July... TWICE this weekend! Come see us Friday at XIX Brewing Company (our home away from home) and on Sunday we can’t wait to reunite with our friends at Jefferson Beer Supply and Lunchbox Studios for pickle painting, pizza and the perfect end to your weekend.✨

Our Burger Battle entry in all her glory! Secret sauce, perfectly seasoned ground beef, bacon, finely chopped red onion, Pecorino Romano, Colby Jack and mozzarella cheeses topped with the most deliciously crispy housemade pickles all on our slow fermented, scratch made crust… with a side of homemade ranch for dipping, of course. No pizza this weekend… go see Vermillion Community Theatre’s “The Little Mermaid” instead!
