πŸŒ±πŸ’š Love Tybee? Help Keep It Beautiful! πŸ’šπŸŒ±

Small actions can make a big difference! 🌊🐒 The City of Tybee Island’s Adopt-An-Area program gives individuals, families, businesses, and organizations the opportunity to help keep our island beautiful and litter-free.

πŸŽ₯ Watch this video to learn more about how you can get involved!

Participants commit to monthly litter pickup in a designated area, whether it’s a roadway, parking lot, beach, marsh, park, or another spot on Tybee that could use some extra love. Every piece of litter picked up helps protect our waterways, support local wildlife, and keep Tybee looking its best.

🌿 Ready to adopt an area? Visit the link below to learn more about the program and how to participate.

πŸŽ‰πŸŒ΄ HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TYBEE ISLAND! πŸŒ΄πŸŽ‰

Today, October 15, we’re celebrating 139 years of Tybee Island! πŸ₯³

On October 15, 1887, Tybee was officially incorporated, beginning a new chapter in the history of our little island with a big personality.

Over the years, our island has gone by several names, including the Town of Ocean City and Savannah Beach, before becoming Tybee Island once again in 1978. The Tybee Improvement Company began surveying lots as early as 1873, helping lay the groundwork for the community we know and love today.

From our beautiful beaches and historic landmarks to our unique character and incredible community, there’s so much to celebrate about the place we call home. πŸ’™

Here’s to 139 years of history, tradition, and salty air β€” and to many more years of making memories on Tybee!

πŸŽ‚ Happy 139th birthday, Tybee Island! We’re glad to call you home.

⚑ Georgia Power Storm Hardening Project Coming to Tybee
Heads up, Tybee!

Georgia Power will begin its Tybee Island Storm Hardening Project this week, bringing increased construction activity throughout the island.

The project will include the installation of new, taller concrete power poles and upgraded equipment to help strengthen the electric grid and improve reliability and resiliency.

🚧 A few important things to know:
β€’ This is a Georgia Power project, not a City of Tybee Island project.
β€’ You may see increased activity from Georgia Power and contracted crews along roads and in rights-of-way.
β€’ Traffic controls and lane closures may be necessary in some areas.
β€’ Crews may have different company logos but will have proper identification.
β€’ If planned power outages are needed, Georgia Power will provide advance notice.
β€’ Work areas will be restored once the project is complete.

We know construction can be inconvenient, and we apologize in advance for any traffic impacts or disruptions this project may cause. We appreciate everyone's patience while Georgia Power completes this needed infrastructure upgrade.

Questions about the project? Please contact Georgia Power directly:

πŸ“§ [email protected]

When contacting Georgia Power, please reference the Tybee Island Storm Hardening Project.

Thank you for your patience, Tybee! πŸ’™
