✈️ About the Baker
Hi! I’m Steph, the self-taught baker, decorator, experimenter, and one-woman flight crew behind **Redy Set Cake**.
And yes, there’s a story behind the spelling.
When I was little, my dad called me “Red” because of my red hair. Years later, when my cake hobby needed a name, "Ready, Set, Cake" became **Redy Set Cake**, with a little piece of my childhood baked right into it.
The aviation theme is just as personal.
I’ve loved airplanes for as long as I can remember, but that fascination really took flight during my first flying lesson in an aerobatic Decathlon. When the pilot handed the controls over to me and I actually got to fly the plane, I was hooked.
Later, I became a TSA officer here in Twin Falls, mostly because I wanted to be closer to aviation. A former Marine and F-4 Phantom mechanic who trained me introduced me to military aviation and, most importantly, the **A-10 Thunderbolt II**.
Cue a lifelong love affair with the flying **BRRRRRT.** 😂
So when Redy Set Cake began developing its identity, aviation wasn’t just a cute theme. It was already part of my story.
The cakes came later.
What started in 2022 as an experiment quickly became something I loved. I’m completely self-taught, and every cake still begins with some version of, “I’ve never done that before… but I bet I can figure it out.”
I especially love creating cakes that feel personal. Give me someone’s favorite car, airplane, dinosaur, hobby, memory, or story, and my brain immediately starts trying to turn it into dessert.
But no matter what it looks like, taste comes first. A beautiful cake is great. A beautiful cake that makes you want another slice is better.
I’m still learning, experimenting, and occasionally attempting things slightly above my current pay grade, but that’s part of the fun!
That’s really what Redy Set Cake has become: a pinch of creativity, bucketloads of butter, the belief that there’s always another idea worth trying, and a lifelong love of aviation all rolled into one.
