Another amazing stop during our Summer 2026 Road Trip through the South and up through the East Coast. Days 3&4 were spent @ The Outer Banks, specifically the rugged Carova Beach (only accessible via 4x4) where wild Banker horses live and roam the beaches. Historians believe these feral horses are descendants of Spanish breeds brought over during the 16th century - abandoned or survivors of the many shipwrecks in the area. A bumpy ride for sure, but well worth the stay amongst the beautiful Bankers. While on the island, sampling the fresh seafood was a must…and the inspiration for this week’s special feature - “The Outer Banks Surf & Turf”: Crab Cake Remoulade & Roast Beef Tenderloin Gremolata. Greetings, Friends! As you may have read previously, we recently traveled through Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, and DC - and sampled the local fare along the way! We were pleasantly surprised to see a fellow Texan in Atlanta, Fox Brothers BBQ. All of our meals were delicious, but their smoked chicken wings were a standout and inspired this week’s special: Naked Fried Chicken Wings dusted with our Sweet & Spicy Rub over Corn Cake, served with Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese. One of my favorite things to do is travel; especially places that have preserved their history…and serve good food! We had the pleasure of visiting Savannah, Georgia last week - the first stop on our self-guided tour through the southern east coast on our way to up to DC. Of course we had to sample what the south is known for - fried chicken, collard greens, fried green tomatoes, and BISCUITS! We sampled so many biscuits all throughout Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. While there are some really good ones out there, I’m still partial to our Heirloom butter biscuits. 💛 Our trip and southern food tour has inspired several special dishes that we’ll feature over the next couple of weeks - starting with an amped-up Biscuits & Gravy with pan-fried chicken, bacon, sausage, pico de gallo, and sharp cheddar. Hello Friends! Our family was honored to attend the 250 celebration in Washington DC over the weekend. An amazing experience with thousands and thousands of proud patriots from all over the US, and the world. I’ve never seen so many people (in lines + close quarters)be so cheerful in 100 degree weather, and then maintaining smiles through rain and wind. It was definitely something special and affirms we are not alone in our love for our country and community. 🇺🇸 BIG thanks to our awesome team for allowing us some time away for this trip. Happy Independence Day weekend! See ya soon!
