Although the City hosts an annual Household Hazardous Waste Day in August every year, we receive multiple requests from residents for additional opportunities to dispose of household hazardous waste.

Mayor O'Connell and DPW have partnered with WIN Waste to offer an additional free Household Hazardous Waste event in Taunton in June.

Acceptable Materials Include:

Antifreeze, Dry Gas, Automotive Fluids, Motor Oil, Gasoline, Car Batteries, Engine Degreaser, Kerosene, Disinfectants, DDT, Rodent Killers, Herbicides, Insect Pump Spray, Pesticides, Flea Killers, Spot Removers/Solvents, Septic Tank Cleaner, Muriatic Acid, Moth Balls, Drain Cleaners, Toilet Bowl Cleaners, Art/Photography Supplies, Lead Acid Batteries, Rechargeable Batteries, Button Batteries, Creosote, Chemistry Sets, Fluorescent Bulbs, Metal Polish (Nickel- Cadmium), Thermostats, Thermometers, Oil Paint, Marine Paint, Wood Preservative, Furniture Polish, Varnishes, Stains

*Please note that this event is restricted to residential waste only and proof of residency is required.

Residents can enter the parking lot on the right, just past the railroad tracks, stay in your vehicle and the staff will collect your HHW items, proceed through the loop and exit to the left.

One month from today! 🇺🇸

The Declaration of Independence was first read publicly on July 8, 1776.

On July 8, 2026, in partnership with the City of Taunton, the Old Colony History Museum will join organizations across Massachusetts in a simultaneous reading of this historic document.

The museum will offer extended hours for this special community celebration. Beginning at 5:00 PM, visitors can enjoy patriotic sing-alongs, a quill-writing demonstration, costumed reenactors, and the opportunity to explore the museum's newest exhibition, Voices of the Revolution.

The public reading of the Declaration of Independence will begin promptly at 6:00 PM—so don’t be late!
