☕ Cup by Cup Adventure ☕

Today’s coffee adventure took us to The Crooked Tree Coffee House in St. Charles!

The coffee was fantastic! Between us, we tried the cappuccino, the Tuxedo, and a strawberry-banana smoothie, and the drinks were a hit all around. ☕🍓🍌 Even better, the prices were very reasonable.

Of course, we couldn’t skip the baked goods! 🧁 They were nicely priced and pretty good overall—maybe a little on the dry side, but certainly okay.

Good coffee, good prices, and—most importantly—another fun stop with friends. ❤️

☕ This Week’s Adventure: The Speakeasy

The Speakeasy is a fascinating coffee shop! The coffee and food were great, but the real treat here is definitely the atmosphere and experience.

Be sure to check out the lower level, where you’ll find a Narnia-style wardrobe that isn’t quite what it seems. Step through it and you’ll discover a hidden back room/bar area! 🚪✨ It adds such a fun and unexpected twist to an already unique place.

☕ This Week’s Adventure: Coffee Stamp

This week’s adventure took us to Coffee Stamp, and it was a great start to the morning!

The service was excellent and incredibly friendly. We arrived around 9:00 a.m., and although there was a line, it moved surprisingly fast.

For our drinks, I ordered a Café Latte with their homemade salted caramel syrup, while Mary enjoyed a Café Mocha. Both were rich, smooth, and absolutely delicious.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying a few treats! We shared a wonderfully soft gingersnap cookie that was full of flavor. I chose the Espresso Muffin—soft, chocolatey, and made with decaf espresso (unfortunately… 😂). Mary picked the blueberry muffin, which was packed with juicy blueberries and was every bit as delicious.

One thing we really appreciated was that they make their own flavored syrups, and they offer a nice variety of coffee drinks and baked goods to choose from.

St. Louis Art Museum Café – April 2025

The St. Louis Art Museum is always one of my favorite places to visit. This trip was especially memorable because Mary got to experience something incredible with me. After I received my colorblind glasses, I was able to see the true colors of many of the paintings for the very first time. It was one of those “wow” moments I’ll never forget, and it was fun to share it with a friend.

While we waited for our time to enter the special exhibit, we stopped at the museum café for coffee and dessert. The coffee, Kaldi’s, was spectacular, and the crème brûlée was phenomenal. The prices were very reasonable, the service was friendly, and it made for a perfect break before exploring the exhibit.

If you’ve never visited the café at the St. Louis Art Museum, it’s well worth the stop—even if you’re just looking for a great cup of coffee and a delicious dessert.

Cyrano’s was our latest Cup by Cup Adventure, and it definitely won’t be our last! The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions. The atmosphere is eclectic, with unique décor that gives the restaurant its own personality.

The food was excellent, and the desserts are even better. We weren’t able to try it this visit, but the Hummingbird Cake comes highly recommended by Mary. It’s not on the regular dessert menu, so be sure to ask about the daily specials if you’re hoping to give it a try.

If you enjoy live music, keep an eye on Cyrano’s event schedule. Erin Bode, a jazz, folk, and pop artist, will be performing there soon. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her several times at different venues, and she is always entertaining. She has a beautiful voice and creates a warm, intimate performance that feels both relaxed and elegant. I especially enjoy the timeless, classic feel she brings to her music—it makes for a wonderful evening paired with great food and dessert.

This local brew house is a rather private affair. Ok just kidding this is just a good night with friends. This Espresso Martini was fabulous.
Recipe

Ingredients

2 oz vodka
1 oz freshly brewed espresso
3/4 oz coffee liqueur (such as Kahlúa)
½ oz simple syrup
3/4 oz Baileys
* Ice
* 3 coffee beans for garnish (optional)

Place in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds. Strain and enjoy.

Optional chocolate rim on your glass.

☕📍 Cup by Cup Adventures Stop: Teleo Coffee – Kirkwood, MO

Some places are worth visiting again… and Teleo Coffee is definitely one of them!

This wasn’t our first visit, and it certainly won’t be our last. Every time we stop in, we’re reminded why we enjoy it so much.

🥐 The chocolate croissant is absolutely outstanding—buttery, flaky, and filled with rich chocolate. It’s the kind of pastry that disappears much faster than you planned!

☕ The coffee is consistently fabulous, expertly prepared, and pairs perfectly with the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

One of the things we appreciate most about Teleo is that it feels like a place where you can slow down, enjoy a great cup of coffee, and spend time catching up with friends. It’s comfortable, inviting, and exactly the kind of neighborhood coffee shop we love discovering.

⭐ Cup by Cup Rating: Highly Recommended

If you’re in downtown Kirkwood, make time to stop by—you just might find your new favorite coffee shop.

☕ Cup by Cup Adventures – Stop #1 ☕

This morning we visited Pipers Tea & Coffee in south St. Louis, and it was a wonderful way to start the day!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with excellent, friendly service and a warm, relaxed atmosphere that made us want to stay awhile.

🥐 What We Tried:
🍌🍫 Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolutely delicious! Moist, flavorful, and loaded with chocolate chips and banana goodness.

🥧 Asparagus Quiche ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fresh, light, and packed with flavor. A perfect breakfast choice.

🚗 Parking: Street parking is available and was easy to find during our visit.

☕ The Vibe:
Pipers has a cozy, laid-back feel that's perfect for catching up with friends, reading a book, or simply slowing down with a great cup of coffee.

Our Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great food, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back again.
