It is with bittersweet feelings that I must announce the closing of Foodies on March 8, 2026. I will look back at this chapter with immense pride in the establishment I built from the ground up, and unwavering gratitude to the community who welcomed me with open arms 6 years ago.
I am very proud of what Foodies stood for and I am very proud of the accolades, acknowledgements, and support I received from customers, media outlets, and food critics during our time here.
When I started my journey in the food business 15 years ago, as a 27 year old kid with no blueprint, no partners, and ZERO financial backing or assistance, but just a fierce determination and a passion to build something meaningful for myself and the community, I didn’t think I’d ever walk away from an industry I had put so much of my time, energy, and literal blood, sweat, and tears into. These last 15 years were both challenging and rewarding, beautiful and brutal. Most didn’t see the sacrifices I had to make; the insurmountable pressure as a sole proprietor, the missed events and family time, the years of working without a day off. Despite all of this, however, the relationships built, memories made, and lessons learned made every ounce of sacrifice truly worthwhile and undeniably meaningful for the rest of my days.
To my friends and guests new and old, thank you for every order placed, every kind word spoken, and every visit you made to any of my restaurants, whether it was Foodies, The Hearth/Maple Valley Diner in Clifton, or The Triangle/The Hawthorne Diner. I especially thank all of those who followed me from one place to the other!
I hope this isn’t a final good bye as I truly love and enjoy many aspects of the food biz and consider myself to be a Foodie at heart.
I have begun a new adventure to more intensely pursue another of my passions full time, and would love the opportunity to serve you with any of your real estate and insurance needs!
Please feel free to text or call me at (551) 206-4728 to talk about the real estate and insurance worlds or to simply chat about old times and catch up!
With endless gratitude,
Teddy Sakellaris
