💚 For Those Who Are New Here…I’d love to tell you the story about Tammy’s Table of Hope.

I’m Tammy, and if you had told me less than a year ago where this journey would lead, I’m not sure I would have believed you.

This started as a small Thanksgiving food drive - 9 months ago.

There was no nonprofit. No big organization. No long-term plan. There was simply a desire to make sure families in our community had food on their tables for Thanksgiving.

But something happened during that food drive that I couldn’t ignore.

People wanted to help.

Our community showed up. People donated food, gave their time, shared what we were doing, and asked what they could do to help.

What began as one effort to help during the holidays started opening my eyes to a much bigger need and an even greater opportunity to serve.

I knew I had to keep going. So many doors were opening, and I truly felt I was being divinely led. I could see my purpose unfolding in real time, and the support surrounding me was deeply heartfelt and undeniable. I became intentional, diligent, and fully dedicated to serving others in every way I could.

Within a few weeks, Tammy’s Table of Hope was born, and as it began to take shape, I quickly realized that if we truly wanted to grow, reach more people, build meaningful community partnerships, and create something that could serve St. Tammany Parish year-round, we needed to take the next step.

That meant stepping WAY outside of my comfort zone.

With the guidance, encouragement and hard work of some incredible women who believed in this mission, Tammy’s Table of Hope became a 501c3 nonprofit organization in May of this year.

And that changed everything.

Today, our mission is about so much more than one Thanksgiving meal. We are working to provide food, hope and dignity to individuals, families, seniors, veterans and even pets experiencing food insecurity throughout our community. Our Community Love Boxes allow people to receive food without forms, interviews, questions or judgment. Our pet-food efforts help make sure four-legged family members aren’t forgotten either.

And speaking of our furry friends, we saw a need we couldn’t ignore. So we expanded our mission even further and created Paws of Hope, a special extension of Tammy’s Table of Hope dedicated entirely to helping pets in need. Because when a family is struggling, we believe no one in that home—two-legged or four-legged—should be left hungry.

And now we’re experiencing something we hoped for but never really expected it to happen…

Growth. A LOT of growth.

More people are learning who we are. More businesses and organizations want to partner with us. More people are asking how they can donate, volunteer and become involved. And with that growth comes a greater responsibility to make sure Tammy’s Table of Hope has the resources and foundation necessary to continue serving our community.

One thing I want people to understand, though, is that while my name may be on this organization, this has never been an “I” mission. It is a “WE” mission.

I may have had the idea, but an idea doesn’t become an organization without people willing to believe in it. Our Board of Directors, volunteers, donors, community partners and supporters are the reason Tammy’s Table of Hope exists and continues to grow. Thank you!

We are learning. We are building. We are growing. And sometimes we’re trying to keep up with just how quickly this little Thanksgiving food drive has turned into something so much bigger.

But at the center of everything we do is still the same simple reason it started:

To help people who are hungry but find it difficult to put food on the table.

The need is constant, and we couldn’t begin to serve our struggling community without the generous support of our donors and volunteers.
