Merry day after Christmas, friends.

I don’t know about you all but i am feeling relieved Christmas is tucked firmly behind me.

It was a wonderful, really really nice day...but momma is TIRED. Creating Christmas magic feels like a bit of a one woman show, and while all of the Elf on the Shelfing, Holiday crafting & wrapwrapWRAPPING is all part of the holly jolly goodness...there’s a reason it’a just once a year! EEK🥱

However, Mission Christmas Magic was a success and my kiddos are miraculously still interested in their new toys a whole day later. So for these handful of uninterrupted, non tv watching, non nagging hours...it was all worth it😬😅

Im hoping that the warm & fuzzy holiday feelings linger a bit longer for you, as we could all use an extra dose of joy this year. ✨🎄🎁✨

Wild times in South East Alaska right now. We have had an unfortunate succession of freeze, snow, rain rain rain...& its just a plain bad situation.

Lots of flooding and damage here in Skagway, but nowhere has it worse then our friends down the canal in . A severe landslide has decimated many homes and Im so infinitely sorry to say there are two people still missing. I cant imagine how this feels to their very close community.

As if 2020 wouldn’t go out without throwing some final punches. , skagway’s heart is heavy for you all. It’s the holiday’s, & we might have our santa and elf jammies on...but it feels heavy & scary. And our thoughts are very much with the hurting.

Please send out prayers for Haines. ❤️

I so love love love my job at the wonderful Skagway Public Library because 📔 (obvi) AND i get so much opportunity to be crafty!

I ❤️ nothing more than getting my hands on some scissors, a sharpie & a paper product....so i jumped at the chance to be able to make the Library’s centennial window display this year!

What started as a ladies club (❤️👯‍♀️👯‍♀️❤️)in the 1920’s soon morphed into the sanctuary Skagway holds dear today.

And i gotta do this plug!...Its and if you aren’t using a library card on the reg you are missing out. Wherever you live there is most likely many perks than come along with that mighty card....a whole world of electronic & audiobooks...and most likely loads of other edifying online access. The world is changing so fast, & library’s are keeping up by providing much more than paperbacks & hardbacks!

Arie & mama’s daily pilgrimage to the big water really paid off today.

Low rolling fog☁️, fall colors🍂& seals greeting us🐬 made me forget the hundreds of times it was much...muuuuch less appealing down there 🌬🌬🌬💨🌊💦😰🥶☹️

So thankful for this Skagway Fall that is healing the vitamin D deprived wounds that this “summer” left us with.

I’ve heard vitamin D is important to fighting Covid, & lets just say, Alaska, I’m concerned😑.

I know the rest of the world is set at a constant simmer in the pandemic frying pan of life...but up here, we’ve been straight chillin away our Covid blues.

Out of all that’s happening, the weather is the thing that kind of sets me over the edge emotionally. I wake up & see the grey skies gusting 40 AGAIN & i just want to go run...faaaar away. But alas, we are STUCK. As stuck as we’ve ever been, in this tiny sliver of a place. Stuckedy STUCK STUCK S T U C K💆‍♀️.

Through this big old test of patience, I’m reaching deep into my pocket of ways to stay sane. Hiking seems to be one of a few tokens I find.

Rain or shine, the quiet world that lives beneath the canopy thrives regardless. Trusty trails guide my feet on the long road home, as I have to believe the trail of life we’re struggling through right now will too.

Just trying to keep my eyes up to find some beauty along this unexpected path, as I hope you can too.
..and can you send some 🌞 up our way?

Because we could really use it🥶

This is an actual depiction of what i look like first thing in the morning, going on month 5 of quarantine life👹😅.

But no really...its not pretty🥴

Truth is Mila busted out this wild (slightly demonic) paper plate mask before she even had breakfast & before my coffee turned me into the person i needed to be today.

Even when i feel like my creative well is running dry through this whole thing...the mind of a child never stops!

This guy keeps blowing our minds with all the baking! I feel so lucky to be on the receiving end of this 🍕, 🍞 & 🍪’s (although it makes keeping the quarantine pounds at bay a bit dicey).

Nothing profound here...just I like & appreciate my cute baker husband.

Keeping what I am grateful for in the forefront for is something Im trying to do a little more of.

I hope gratitude for something small finds you unexpectedly today.✨❤️✨

And just like that...my first born is 5😭.

Yes Ive got all the feelings about this.

She isn’t my little baby anymore! But she is getting to be such an interesting person... i can’t lament the march of time too much. Every day i see her personality developing & it is such a thrill to watch.

Feeling lots of feelings...but tonight the big feeling is gratitude i get to be this one’s mom. She’s one of a kind❤️

Its not every 4th of July that one finds themselves in full nun gear by 9am🤷🏼‍♀️.

As the is celebrating its centennial year, 📚fREADom📚was the theme of the kiddie parade & kids were encouraged to dress as their favorite book character. I work at Skagway Public Library, lead the children’s program, & LIVE to dress up...so it was only right for Mila & I to go full on Madeline & Ms. Clavel on the town. It was fun. And very cute. Also if I strayed from Mila at all I got a bunch of very confused looks.😂

Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate such a safe & fun 4th of July for Skagway. It was such a breath of fresh air to revisit some of our cherished traditions in such a tumultuous & unknown time.
