After years of missing a Nico’s near Cortaro, we’re back — thanks to two brothers, Juan & Alex Carreon, grandsons of our founder Nicolas Carreon 👑

They grew up in the burrito biz — learning the recipes, soaking in the hustle, and carrying on the tradition. Now they’ve brought it full circle with their very own Nico’s Mexican Food, officially opened in Marana on February 24th ❤️

Meet the heart of Nico’s in Marana — Felipa. ❤️

She’s been running this location since she and her husband opened it in 2004, but her story with Nico’s goes back to 1982. Over the years, she’s poured love, care, and dedication into every part of this restaurant. Felipa is known for her incredible work ethic, warm smile, and the way she goes above and beyond for every customer — even making special custom orders just to make someone’s day. She’s built a place where everyone feels like family, and Nico’s in Marana wouldn’t be what it is without her.

Thanksgiving is a very special day for our family, as it marks the start of our journey. For those who may not know our history, the first Nico’s location opened its doors in San Diego back in 1982. Success didn’t come overnight—it was far from easy. On that first day, the shop made only $10 in sales, which barely covered the cost of ingredients. In fact, Nicolas Carreon was so frustrated that he yelled out the window in disbelief.

San Diego already had a wide variety of great Mexican food, making the market highly competitive. But on Thanksgiving Day that year, Nicolas and Catalina Carreon made a bold decision—while others closed for the holiday, they chose to stay open. That day, something special happened. More people came through the door, and the food was so good they kept coming back, bringing their friends and family with them.

That Thanksgiving Day changed everything and set the stage for the Nico’s legacy we’re so proud of today. The original Nico’s location at is still going strong, thanks to that unforgettable moment.
