The Visocaro family is originally from Palermo, the capital of the Italian island of Sicily. They began introducing the flavors of the traditional Italian dishes in New York city with a modest pizzeria, “Paola’s Pizza Restaurant.” After 12 years of tiring cold and snowy weather, they decided to move to the much warmer city, San Antonio, Texas. In April 1983, Little Italy Restaurant & Pizzeria opened its doors with authentic New York style Italian cuisine.
With their new home in San Antonio, Angelo and Paola Visocaro put their own spin to traditional Italian dishes originating from Southern Italy. The husband and wife brought the culture, language and food of a customary Italian family to San Antonio.
Over the years, Angelo and Poala passed down family recipes and successful business secrets to the next generation of the Visocaro family. Their children Enzo, Dominick and Marisa, all became part of the family business, following in their parent’s footsteps. Even Poala’s brother, Gaspar, can be found in the kitchen making pizzas. To this day, Dominick and Marisa operate and manage the quaint restaurant.
Dominick is the Vice President and Marisa is the Managing Director of the restaurant. Together they work hard to provide the same genuine Italian atmosphere that their parents established. From speaking Italian with guests, to using all of the original recipes Angelo and Paola used to establish the family restaurant. Every bite you take is filled with history, passion and heritage. Dominick and Marisa believe that this is crucial to the Little Italy Restaurant & Pizzeria brand as well as the Visocaro family tradition.
