This past weekend before all the storms we came home from church Sunday afternoon with big hopes to accomplish a lot of yard/garden work to surprise my parents when they got back from a day trip to take my brother to camp. So the kids skipped naps and we got to work right after lunch.

Anthony got to work with the w**d whacker and I got to work planting. The boy kids played for a while and I brought out littlest with me in the stroller. About half way through my planting the kids joined me to plant the flowers they’d wanted and then helped out mulch in several of our “kitchen garden” raised beds while I w**ded the strawberry bed (which was embarrassingly overgrown with grass 😅). We made so much progress and got to bleed my parents with a surprise when they got home!

If you saw my storm update post you’ll know the storm ended up removing some of the kids hard work with the mulch but thankfully most of it plants seemed to have survived!

I love working in the garden with my kids and any chance to surprise my patents with a lightening in the load is always great!

Last night we had a huge storm come through our area and the damage all around us was extensive! We are still without power as are so many in our community and the crews are working around the clock to repair all of the damage that was caused!
We thankfully don’t have any large trees near our house and so our damage was very limited which we know is a huge blessing and not something that’s true for many around us!
If you’re local to us and in need of anything let us know and we’ll do what we can to help!
Thankful tonight for my mother and father in law who brought us their generator to save the day and keep our food from spoiling and save us some sweating, and for all the crews working tirelessly to repair everything drowned in the storm!!

I just saw post that they have new Lego sets coming in and it reminded me of the sweet evening I got to spend enjoying time with just our oldest at their Mother’s Day Lego event a few weeks ago!

Time alone with just our oldest is so special! He’s big enough to have real conversations with and to have his own distinct thoughts and ideas and desires and I love getting to know his heart and nurture it! Motherhood is a dream I carried for so many years and now living it I sometimes forget to cherish it in the hustle of life. But I’m trying so much to quiet the noise and slow the hustle because these moments are too precious to miss!

We have enjoyed bee keeping so much the last few years and the horizontal hives we’ve been running the last several years have some great perks, but so far we’ve not found high honey production to be one of those perks.
So, this year, we knew we wanted to branch out and try a new kind. My dad got to looking at options and found these boxes and they were too cool to not try! The insulating perks they offer were a huge deciding factor along with cost and a few others!

Since then we’ve been following along with a YouTube documentary (a 4th generation bee keeper in Australia, whose dad invented them) is publishing, and have just enjoyed getting to see bits of their journey while we’ve been seeing our bees thrive in their hives!

Being a 4 generation homesteading family or self and mainly father/daughter bee keeping team we love their tight knit family bind and relate with it greatly!

I’ll be sharing more about the assembly of them soon and you’ll be seeing more about them as we use them this summer!!

Just an appreciation post for my moderately reluctant homestead husband who makes all my dreams come true even when he thinks they’re crazy or I’m biting off more than I can chew! 😅😅

He has been putting in some very hard work to make things happen here and in so many other parts of our life and he has no idea I have been silently collecting small snippets of the ways he blessed me day in and day out… but boy does he!

None of this would be possible without him! 💙

This last almost 10 months has been quite the journey.

From the initial concern that our newborn wasn’t gaining weight, to meticulously weighing and tracking every feed, to a scary PICU stay, to months of daily antibiotics and so much in between… this journey hasn’t looked like we’d expected at all.

But through the ups and downs, the fear and the faith, God has been ever present with us. He’s taught us, he’s grown us, he’s sanctified, us, he’s carried us, he’s been our strength and our peace when those things felt so far away.

Last week our little guy had a follow up and finally got to stop his daily antibiotic 8 months after being emergently placed on it in the PICU one very terrifying night at 7 weeks old. For the last 8 months I’ve given him a dose every night before bed and every 2 weeks I’ve had to pick up a fresh bottle. It’s caused unwanted side affects for our little guy but all of our medical professionals felt it was the best choice given the situation, so we did what was best even though it felt yucky and unwanted. It felt so unnatural for me and I wanted so badly for it to not be his situation but it was, and that’s okay.

Last week though, we saw his specialist and he said we no longer need it. We got to stop the antibiotic!!! It felt so therapeutic to throw that last bottle away and sit down to nurse him to sleep that night without having to draw up and give him a a dose!

His medical journey isn’t over, but this is a huge step forward and we are so so thankful! 💙

Every time I wash the sheets I always forget to remake the bed before the end of the day so if you do too…. This is your reminder to go put them back the bed! 🛌 ☺️😅
