Would you use a tracker that focused on effort instead of perfection?

I've been busy working on the Mystery Journal that I'll be giving away at the end of this month, and one of my favorite parts has been the habit trackers.

What I love about trackers is that they don't have to be about perfect streaks. They can simply help you see yourself showing up.

A tracker can remind you that progress is happening, even when it doesn't feel like it.

This kind of layout was inspired by a full-page tracker found in the Art of Planning & Journaling inserts, but they can be used in so many different ways—habits, goals, self-care, business tasks, reading, movement, and more.

Sometimes the biggest benefit isn't checking every box.
It's having a visible reminder that you're making an effort.

Would tracking your effort help you stay encouraged?

🐢 Happy World Sea Turtle Day! 🐢

One of the reasons I love the sea turtle as a symbol for planning is that turtles don’t rush.

They move with purpose. They adjust when the currents change. And they keep going, even when the journey takes longer than expected.

Planning works the same way.

You don’t have to move faster.
You don’t have to do everything perfectly.
You just have to keep returning to the path.

Today, be a little more like a sea turtle:
✨ Move with intention.
✨ Protect your peace.
✨ Trust your own rhythm.

What’s one goal you’re slowly but steadily working toward right now?

06/16/2026

Consistency doesn’t have to mean every day.

Sometimes consistency looks like checking in with your planner when you need it, working the plan, and coming back again later.

Your planner is a tool, not a time clock.

The goal isn’t perfect consistency.

It’s returning consistently.

What’s one thing you could return to today?

Current Mood Check-In

I saw a graphic like this and thought it would be fun to make our own version!

Right now, my mood board looks something like this:

☀️ Current Mood: Summer
🇺🇸 Looking Forward To: Fourth of July
🎂 Already Thinking About: My Birthday
🎃 Secretly Dreaming About: Halloween

The best part? You don’t have to be artistic to create one. I’ve dropped the prompt in the comments so you can make your own personalized mood board in just a few minutes.

I’d love to see what season of life you’re in right now!

When you create yours, come back and share it in the comments so we can all take a peek. 👀

What’s your:
✨ Current Mood?
✨ Looking Forward To?
✨ Already Thinking About?
✨ Secretly Dreaming About?

Drop your graphic below when you’re done!

You don't need to catch up before you come back.

Let's talk about re-entry.

It's probably one of the most overlooked tools in planning because it seems too simple.

When we've been away from our planner for a few days, or even a few weeks, our first instinct is often to start over. New list. Fresh brain dump. Fresh week. Fresh planner page.

But what if you didn't need to do any of that?

What if re-entry was simply looking at what you've already written down and choosing where to begin again?

So many of us think coming back means rebuilding everything. Not so. Most of the time, it just means opening the planner, looking at the list that's already there, and choosing one thing to work on.

I have a big project coming up at the end of this month. The funny thing is, I actually started it last quarter before my world fell apart. When I came back to it, I didn't need to create a brand-new list of tasks. I didn't need another brain dump. I didn't need a fresh start. I needed to look at where I was, evaluate the time I had left, and choose one thing. Just one thing.

Because re-entry isn't about starting over. It's about starting from where you are.

I know Monday feels like the perfect day to begin again. But what if you don't have to wait for Monday? What if you don't have to start over at all?

What helps you reconnect after you've drifted away from a plan?

It’s either gonna be a good day or a bad day.

I am taking on my first home project since my dad passed. I have been emotional most of the evening and this morning trying to work up to the next steps. This was supposed to be our next project.

I am trying to think like him and anticipate like him, and I know I can do this because he taught me all the things. But I’m missing him sitting beside me while I work things out.

Wish me luck.

The Next Journal Café Releases Today

Are you ready for the next Journal Café?

This quarterly creation is a thoughtfully curated box designed for those who want to create a space of calm in their busy lives.

The intention behind the box is simple:

• Sit and journal
• Enjoy a cup of tea
• Write and mail a card

Of course, how you choose to use it is entirely up to you.

This quarter's Journal Café was inspired by Japan, featuring a beautiful array of colors, patterns, and details that capture the feeling of slowing down and appreciating the moment.

One of my favorite pieces in this collection is the charm, (of course it is), a postage stamp featuring Mt. Fuji.

And of course, there's a beautiful PenGems pen designed to coordinate perfectly with the entire kit.

The Journal Café releases today at 8am PST/11am EST and will be available while supplies last.

For Cannin Plannin friends, five bonus entries for the June and Mystery Journal Giveaways, will be given to those that purchase this quarter's Journal Cafe Box. Are you ready to order? Check the shopping link in the comments.

Ever notice how easy it is to say...

"I'll start again on Monday."

A fresh week.
A fresh planner page.
A fresh attempt.

But what happens when the next Monday starts looking a lot like the last one?

This week, we're talking about why so many people find themselves stuck in the restart cycle.

Not because they're lazy.
Not because they lack discipline.
And not because they need a better planner.

Sometimes it's because we've been taught that falling off the plan means we've failed.

In this week's Friday Chit Chat, we're talking about:

✅ The Monday reset cycle
✅ The difference between planning and practicing ex*****on
✅ Why falling off feels so personal
✅ Why plans are meant to be worked, not obeyed
✅ How to come back without shame

If you've ever felt like you're constantly starting over, this conversation is for you.

I couldn't begin to tell you how many days I've missed in my planner.

Seriously.

People ask me all the time how I stay so organized, and I can tell you right now... that is NOT it.

Apparently, it is possible to appear organized while simultaneously not looking at your planner.

Trust me, I know there are people out there who are far more organized than I am. But honestly? That's often the exception, not what most normal humans are doing day in and day out.

I want to LIVE my life.

So if I miss a day in my planner, I don't want to spend the next three days beating myself up about it.

Plans are meant to be worked, not obeyed.

We aren't superhuman here. We're just human.

Some weeks go exactly as planned. Some weeks don't.

So if you're out there trying to cross off every single thing on your list while missing the life happening around you, maybe it's time to put the planner down for a minute.

Leave some white space.

Leave room for living.

Because the goal isn't to serve the planner.

The planner is supposed to serve you.

What is worth closing your planner for?
