Seeing is believing! It was a pleasure to work with musician extraordinaire, Scott Mead (over 114 million views of TikTok videos that use his music!), to craft a personal music studio from a large, old garage. From insulation and sound abatement, to comforting flooring and wall treatments, the result is, as Scott describes it, a dream come true. You must see the Before and After photos in my portfolio!

What do you do when you can’t make a little bathroom any bigger? You make it look bigger with clever color and style!

This tiny bathroom serves guests and was a bit of an embarrassment for the homeowners. I worked to bring a soft color palette for the primary color, choosing what I would call a creamy nougat. By unifying the colors of floor, walls and cabinetry (the dated oak cabinet was broken particle board, and very short!), the illusion of greater space was created.

The real winner was hundreds and hundreds of 3″ x 6″ faux stone wall tiles – placed vertically, they draw the eye upward, to the very high ceiling. This created the most impact for the illusion of greater space. With the faux stone, the perfect complement would be oil-rubbed bronze. These dark bronze elements were used throughout: Cabinet door pulls, in-wall toilet paper dispenser, faucet, hand towel ring, toilet flush handle, door stop, robe hook, and special towel hooks on each side of the bathtub for his and hers bath towels!

Just look at this new color from our cabinet supplier! Mossy, earthy green - accent with the brass drawer pulls, frosted lighting, and cream walls for a gorgeous upscale look. In the kitchen, combine with oil-rubbed bronze pulls, faucets, and lighting for the Transitional Rustic look we discussed before!

We LOVE this rich blue-green color for our latest kitchen project. The lower cabinets have this custom paint job, uppers are stunning solid hickory. This blue-green color is a major anchor. It provides a sense of depth, calm, and sophistication. It acts as a rich, modern anchor while still pulling from natural tones (like deep water or forest). This choice prevents the look from becoming too rustic and introduces a Transitional or even Coastal/Nautical feeling.

Hickory is a highly-figured wood, meaning it has prominent grain patterns and natural variation. It brings warmth, texture, and a strong rustic/natural element. Together with oil-rubbed bronze fixtures we selected, adds a sense of antiquity and weight, leaning toward the rustic or traditional.

The drawer pulls and faucet of oil-rubbed bronze provides a strong contrast against the blue-green and the lighter-toned hickory, tying the whole look together with a common, dark accent color. It takes the clean lines and two-toned sophistication of Transitional design but uses highly textured, natural, and rustic materials (hickory) to bring warmth and character. The end result is Transitional Rustic!

Let's talk about interior design Vision Boards! Sometimes called "Mood Boards" but, to us, a "mood" is something that comes and goes. What if you don't like the "grey mood" later? Whereas "vision" represents something to aspire to, something more nebulous and sublime... We craft Vision Boards for each client, allowing different elements to come together with options. This is a great early phase of the entire interior design process. Here's a Vision Board for a cool (and warm) cafe!

Installation Day (or week!) - or as we like to call it, "The Reveal is Coming!" This is the highly anticipated culmination of the project. Installation occurs after all construction is complete and the site is cleaned. We coordinate the transport of all stored goods from the warehouse to the site. The team unpacks, places, and installs all furnishings, artwork, and accessories. This is often followed by a professional photo shoot (with client permission).

Saw EMRY today in Paso Robles, at the new - love how the interior reflects personality and warmth! "EMRE" is a name that means friend a symbol of warmth, belonging, and the shared joy of a meal. Savor modern Mediterranean cuisine in a space that showcases light and textures, blending notes of Spain, Italy, Greece, and Morocco. Note how colors are drawn directly from the natural landscape:
Warm Neutrals: White, cream, sand, and earthy beige for walls (often stucco or plaster) and large surfaces.
Earthy Tones: Terracotta, rust, olive green, and warm browns, inspired by clay, stone, and the land.
Oceanic Accents: Vibrant or deep blues (cobalt, azure, turquoise) and seafoam green, reflecting the sea and sky. See their Instagram reel for where the blue comes in to play. :)
