Doorstep Peppers LLC is where I get all my barbecue seasonings. Veteran-owned, hand-grown peppers in Wisconsin's short but humid summer, then hand-ground and Kosher certified. NO ONE has fresher spices! Nope, not even anyone from the Penzey family. The Pruszka Family does it right!!!

This is my mom's delicious meatloaf recipe. Of course, it's been tweaked a bit. Instead of the two cans of tomato sauce, I only use one can, but for the second can, I use Gate's original bbq sauce from KCMO. The only other thing added is a few generous dashes of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce. Then, instead of baking it in the oven, I put it in buttered Lodge cast iron meatloaf pans and smoke it at 325° with oak, cherry and applewood. It gives my mom's meatloaf a whole new dimension! Deb serves it with twice-baked Idaho potatoes and Wisconsin cheese We love it :-)

Great to spend the day with Ken Bouvier today. I first met Ken at Milwaukee's WEMSA in the early 90s when I was a basic EMT. Now retired from NOEMS, he's an EMS icon and one heck of a great guy!
