SAN LORENZO, THE BAKER BEHIND THAT COOKIE AD IN YOUR NEWSLETTER IS 11. 🤎🍪

She’s my Daughter, Phoenix.

She started baking at nine. Last weekend, people walked into the Castro Valley Moose Lodge specifically looking for her. They’d heard about her cookies and wanted to try them.

Then came the first bites.
“You can taste the butter.”
“You can tell this is made with love.”

As her Dad, hearing people say those things directly to her means more than I can explain.

Tomorrow, I’d love for our own neighbors to meet her.

They Came Looking for Phoenix. Her Cookies Did the Talking. 🍪✨

Members of the Castro Valley community and neighbors from surrounding areas walked into the Castro Valley Moose Lodge specifically looking for Phoenix. They had heard about this 11-year-old baker and came to try her cookies for themselves.

And then came that first bite.🍪✨️

The pause. The look on their faces. Then the comments:

“This cookie is next level.”
“This is absolutely amazing.”
“You can taste the butter.”
“You can tell this is made with love.” 🤎

As her dad, watching those reactions meant so much. People could hardly believe that Phoenix is just 11 years old—and that she’s been baking since she was nine.🥹🤎

Even fellow bakers came to try her cookies. Hearing people who understand the time, care, and work behind baking tell Phoenix how outstanding her cookies are made that night even more special.

Some even encouraged her to enter baking contests. They thought her cookies were that good, and they wanted her to take her talent further. 🏆

Behind every batch is my daughter, learning, putting in the work, and pouring her heart into something she loves. That night, she got to hear people recognize that for themselves.

To the Castro Valley community, our neighbors, and everyone at the Moose Lodge who came looking for Phoenix: thank you for showing up, trying her cookies, and speaking encouragement into her life. 🫶🏽

You gave her more than compliments. You gave her reasons to keep believing in what she’s building.

🍋 “I’m no expert, but here goes.” — Phoenix, age 11 💛

Up late last night preparing for today’s San Leandro event, Phoenix put the finishing touches on her Sunny Drizzle Cookies—applying her homemade lemon glaze, one cookie at a time.

Those little yellow flecks? Real lemon zest, bringing bright citrus flavor and fragrant lemon oils to every drizzle. ✨

There’s something special about watching a young baker grow: the willingness to try, the care she puts into her work, and the confidence she builds along the way.

Ember & Whisk was proud, excited, and honored to be part of the Oakland Black Cowboy Association’s 52nd Annual Parade & Festival, celebrating Black cowboy history and culture!

From the parade to the smiling faces at our booth, it was a beautiful day honoring a legacy and bringing generations together. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and showed love to Phoenix, San Lorenzo’s 11-year-old baker. Your smiles, kind words, and encouragement made this a day she’ll always remember!
