Directors Monica Mirabile and Sarah Kinlaw are bringing together six choreographers (including Sigrid Lauren, India Salvor Menuez, and Colin Self), an original score by renowned musicians like Dev Hynes, SOPHIE, and Caroline Polachek, seven installation artists, and a cast of 150+ performers to create a massive, immersive performance at the Knockdown Center in Queens, May 20–22, 2016. Authority Figure is a social psychology experiment that merge choreography, sound, and installation for an experience that asks the audience to consider their own relationships to surveillance, big data, and policing.

Choreography: Monica Mirabile, Sarah Kinlaw, Sigrid Lauren (FlucT), India Salvor Menuez, Juri Onuki, Colin Self, Richard Kennedy, Kathleen Dycaico, and Tara-Jo Lewis.

Installations: Jen Monroe (Bad Taste), Ilana Savdie, Jerome Bwire, Signe Pierce, Yulan Grant, and Michael Potvin (Nitemind Creative).

Music: Devonte Hynes (Blood Orange), Dan Deacon, Ian Drennan, SOPHIE, Eartheater, Travis Egedy (Pictureplane), Nick Koenig (Hot Sugar), and Caroline Polachek.

An immersive choreography exploring our relationships to surveillance, big data, and policing as it mingles with our psychology.

Molly Soda's SAME is a conversation about seeing yourself through other people/other people’s images. Interested in the phenomenon that happens online when people repost/reblog images and caption them with things such as, “me as hell”, “this is so me”, “same”, etc, Soda wanted to take work that comments on this connection between strangers—seeing yourself through others—as well as work that she felt that “same-ness” toward.
