Two years ago this week, we were in the final days of training 22 people and getting ready to open our doors for the first time.

Opening day was a wild ride — baking started at 4 a.m., TV news crews came through, lines stretched to the sidewalk, and by noon we were baking more bread just to keep up. I capped it all off by watching my daughter win a softball championship that evening. I’m still tired thinking about it!

Two years later, I’m proud that we’re still the kind of business I always wanted to be a part of — a place that feels like home to our customers, where employees enjoy coming to work, and where we make a quality product that makes our community a little bit better. My favorite compliment we receive is, “You can just tell this is a place that lives by its values.” That’s exactly what we’ve tried to build.

My wife and I discovered Great Harvest nearly 20 years ago in Washington, D.C., and fell in love with both the bread and the friendly spirit behind it. I never imagined that years later I’d have the opportunity to bring Great Harvest to Michiana, and I’m incredibly grateful for the way this community has embraced us.

So, to celebrate TWO YEARS of serving Michiana:

Between a few illnesses and high school homecomings, we’ll be closing at 5:00 PM today, an hour earlier than usual.
We love being your local community bakery—and sometimes that means following the ebbs and flows of what’s happening in our community.

We’re making a few changes to our goodie prices:

🍪 Cookies are now just $3
🧁 Muffins stay $3.49
🍰 Brownies, scones, cake slices & dessert bars are $4
🥐 Cinnamon rolls & bread pudding are $5.50

But here’s our favorite part:

Pick 4 Goodies — $13
Pick 6 Goodies — $18

That means you can still stock up on your favorites for as little as $3 each.

Like every small business, we’re working to keep up with ingredient costs while continuing to fairly compensate the incredible baking team that makes everything from scratch every day. And when our costs allow us to lower a price, we will — which is why our cookies are actually dropping to $3.

Fresh baked. Made from scratch. And still a pretty good reason to bring home a box.

My managers and staff did a great job running the bakery and cafe while I was at the Great Harvest convention! Served over 300 customers, sold out of bread, ran a farmer’s market and a Memorial Hospital booth (we’re there right now), and catered hundreds of sandwiches and goodies. If you stop by this afternoon, please let them know how wonderful they are! I’ll see you all tomorrow!
