You’ll find a stunning selection of pumpkins to decorate with and a huge variety of delicious, flavorful squash, some of which you’ll see on our menu this fall. 🎃

MEET OUR TEAM
Alex - Serve Assist

BACKGROUND: Alex was born and raised in St. Paul, she’s a lifelong Minnesotan through and through. Growing up with an older sister and a cousin who’s basically a brother, she was the classic outdoors kid, making dirt pies in the yard, baking whatever she could get her hands on, and cooking for herself and her siblings from a young age. That independence showed up early and never really left.

At DeLaSalle in Minneapolis, Alex kept impressively busy: tennis (team captain for two years), softball, swimming, and theater. She headed off to UMD after graduation, but a month in, she knew it wasn’t the right fit, so she came home, worked at Trader Joe’s, and rode out the start of the pandemic before enrolling at MCTC, where she earned her associate’s in literature, communication, and cultural studies.

From there, life took Alex through a string of jobs that shaped her in different ways, with jobs at the MN Waldorf School, nannying, managing a vintage store, plus a couple of firsts that still make her smile: scooping ice cream at Connie’s Creamy Cone and working the counter at St. Paul Bagelry. The vintage store job eventually led her into restaurants, with stops at Petite Léon, Cardamom, and Thérèse before she found her way to us.

Alex just earned her bachelor’s degree from Metro State, with an eye toward an eventual career in a library. Library science, history, and English are all subjects close to her heart, and she’d love to build a future working among books. She also holds Luxembourg citizenship through her mom, who’s 100% Luxembourgish, and dreams of studying there someday.

For now though, she loves restaurants because she loves people, the energy, the social pace, the constant motion. It’s simply where she fits, at least until that library career comes calling.

INSIDE SCOOP: She’s spent time chasing new cities and flavors whenever she can. Copenhagen is her favorite place in the world, she’s been twice and can’t wait to go back, with Mexico City close behind as another destination she loves returning to.

LAST SUPPER: Thai food, specifically green curry with tofu, extra spicy.

Last week we had the privilege of welcoming Robert Sinskey for a special w**e dinner. Planning started with the w**es themselves, where our team of chefs tasted through them first, then crafted a menu built to let each one shine.

If you don’t know Robert Sinskey Vineyards & Wilding Farm w**es, you should. As one of Napa Valley’s earliest and most committed biodynamic producers, Sinskey favors restraint, food-friendly acidity, and true site expression over sheer power. Their w**es are gorgeous, and such a privilege to experience.
