I know, I know. I am way behind on telling you about all the restaurants we have been to, but really busy lately.
Any way, didn't want to cook last night so we went to a Mexican place in Tempe. Los Reyes De La Torta. 1528 E Southern in Tempe. We had been there before right after they opened, but tried it again. Wow, this place is a winner. Mexico City food, maybe the best around here. I had shrimp grilled with bacon, onions, peppers, covered with melted cheese. Beans, rice , Guacamole, and salad. Even came with a grilled jalapeno. Must say I ate too much. They don't serve alcohol, but have lots of great mixed fruit drinks.

Oh Boy, I haven't posted here for a while because I have not been happy with the new places we have been, But, now I have. Last night we went to this taco shop that has recently opened in Mesa, . THE TACO SPOT at Baseline and Country Club. Walk in the door and I am in Rocky Point or Ensenada. Music blasting, big tv s on the wall, bar. I ordered, 2 beef tacos and Gussie got a chicken taco and chicken quesadilla, The best I have had around here. 2 sauces available, a green and habanero (HOT). I think the tortillas are home made, very tasty. Oh yeah. Margaritas are $4.50. The only thing missing is the guy blowing the whistle and turning the girls upside down while pouring tequila down their throats. Are you tired of getting junk food at Taco Bell? Maybe try this great Mexican Grill instead. Los Asaderos Food was good, sauces were great. To much to eat at one setting. Tuesdays and Thursdays, $1.15 street tacos. You won't be unhappy about this place.

Gussie & I stopped by Mama Baer's Café this morning after a trip to the Dr. for a quick drink and snack. This little café owned by Fawn Reed is in the strip center Northeast side of Val Vista and Guadalupe in Gilbert.
Specialty coffees and soft drinks, along with home made Pastries and deserts in the morning and select sandwiches at lunch and afternoons. I had lemonade and a brownie. No long lines like that other coffee place and nice people. We recommend it. Stop by and say hi. 891 North Val Vista Drive Gilbert, AZ

Wow, we have been there in a while, but went yesterday before the Sun's game. Mrs. White's Golden Rule Restaurant. Southern Down Home Cooking. Good old comfort food. I had Chicken Fried steak.( with brown gravy) with black eyed peas, sweet cabbage and green beans with new potatoes. Entrees are $13.00 and comes with 2 sides and corn bread. Add some sweet tea and you are in heaven.

I've been a bit under the weather lately , so We haven't been going out for dinner. Last night we went to a Japanese Restaurant , The Teriyaki Kitchen at 2028 w Guadalupe rd in Mesa, AZ. It's not new but new to us.
Very plain looking building outside, but nice inside. Japanese Décor through out. I hope you like Teriyaki, because it is their main dishes, but there is at least 25 different versions you can order. Of course I ordered the Teriyaki Beef Bento (Box) It was way more than I could eat. Came with Soup, salad, eggroll Cheesepuff , white rice and lots of lean beef. I'm having leftovers for lunh today.

Every Monday night, our little Vintage MX group meet's at the Chili's at 1025 N Dobson in Mesa, AZ.

WE usually sit in the bar area, sometimes at the bar depending on how many of us there are. Last night was 10 , so we put a couple of tables together.
Gus & I had the 2 for $22.00, It was good as always. The waitress is very efficient , catering to our every need and keeping us supplied with free chips and salsa. Chris , the bartender, is quick and super friendly. I have to watch Gus around him, (I think she kinda likes him).
I rate this place 3 thumbs up. I highly recommend the bar area for dinner and drinks.

Last night we tried Long Horn Steakhouse at 1434 S Alma School Rd in Mesa, AZ.
We hadn't been there since it opened and decided to give it another try. We went about 4:30 in the afternoon trying to beat the rush. ( It never Came). We were seated in the dining area immediately and the waiter came to take our drink order.
We ordered cocktails and an appetizer .(Fried Green Tomatoes)

The appetizer came fairly quickly, followed by our salads. But the cocktails didn't arrive for about 5 more minutes.

Dinner arrived , we both had ordered the Flo's Fillet, Gussie's std and mine with the hickory salt crust. Both were very tender and delicious . Maybe the salted Fillet was a little salty for me, but I ate every bite and was up all night getting a drink.

Conclusion .... Atmosphere was a little too classy for a cowboy steakhouse, wait service was good, Bar service was horrible, the order in which the different plates came out was strange with the salads coming a few minutes after the appetizer.

Will we go back? Yes Probably.

Saturday evening Gussie & I went to the Applebee's at 2053 S Alma School Rd in Mesa.
We hadn't been there in several years and were delighted in the new décor and friendly staff. We sat at the bar and the bar tender was very attentive,

Ordered the 2 for $22 and a couple of drinks, The drinks and food arrived very quickly and was excellent.

We will for sure go here again.
