Some dishes look good in a photo and somehow look even better when they are sitting right in front of you. Hot pasta, shrimp, mussels, and a golden piece of toast on the side—the smell is the part a picture cannot really capture. Give the pasta a quick toss while everything is still warm and let the sauce coat the noodles before taking that first bite. We like meals like this because they do not need much explanation. The food is hot, you are hungry, and that is a pretty good time to stop talking and start eating.

Oysters do not always have to be served raw. Once they are baked, the warm topping and rich flavor turn them into a completely different experience. This is one of those dishes we think should be eaten as soon as it reaches the table—take the photo quickly because warm oysters are not meant to sit around. Put a few in the middle, let everyone grab one, and the tray probably will not stay full for long. If raw oysters are usually your order, try the hot side of oysters next time.

Coming to Pier 64 does not mean everyone at the table has to order seafood. Sometimes a hearty meat entrée catches your eye and completely changes the plan. Served with vegetables like asparagus, it fits right in alongside the seafood dishes on the table. This is the kind of plate that makes you stop for a second when it reaches the table. Shrimp, mussels, pasta, plenty of sauce, and a big piece of toasted bread on the side. Nothing overly complicated—just a warm, filling plate that looks ready to be eaten. After a long day, sometimes that is exactly what dinner should be. Forget about ordering whatever is trending. If the plate in front of you looks good and tastes good, you made the right choice.

Sometimes the most memorable seafood dinner is not a seafood boil at all. A hot plate of seafood pasta with shrimp, mussels, noodles, and plenty of sauce brings a completely different kind of comfort to the table. And that piece of toasted bread on the side?
