Last week was Vegas. Next week is Denver.

I feel like I’m in full-on fundraising mode right now.

We’ve proven something pretty significant here in Chicago: people want a better, more local food system. We’ve learned a lot about what it takes to actually build one, some of it the expensive way.

Now we’re continuing to figure out how to solidify the business model and, eventually, bring it to new markets.

One thing I’ve noticed as I’ve been having these conversations is that I’ve stopped describing Kakadoodle as an “online farmers market.”

Instead, I’ve started calling it an “AI-native food system.”

Which… makes me cringe a little bit.

AI is attached to everything right now, and I have no interest in slapping it onto Kakadoodle just because it sounds good in a pitch.

But I do think there’s something meaningfully different about the way we’re building this company.

So I tried to explain what I actually mean by “AI-native” in this article:

Just an hour and a half south of us is one of my favorite little Illinois day trips.

We went down to visit Jenna at Kilgus Farmstead in Fairbury, a charming little Central Illinois town and a pretty great excuse to get away for the day with the kids.

You guys already know Kilgus for their incredible milk, but their new farm market has so much more. Local food, plenty to explore, and quite possibly the best farm-fresh ice cream you’ll ever have. 🍦🥛

If you’re looking for an easy little Illinois day trip, put Kilgus on the list.
