St. Louis has long been home to an incredible and growing Asian American community, and we feel fortunate to be part of it. From family-owned restaurants and markets to cultural festivals, local businesses, and community organizations, AAPI culture continues to shape the fabric of our city in meaningful ways.

We're rounding out AAPI month by spotlighting some of Julie’s favorite AAPI-owned businesses to frequent and hope you'll give them a try!

Tai Ke (Taiwanese): Julie’s top picks include the mapo tofu extra spicy, popcorn chicken, and hakka stir fry (no pork). “Quick, consistent, and fresh every time!”

Papa Shih’s (Chinese): A family favorite known for authentic Shandong cuisine. Julie especially recommends the zha jia mien chao ma mian.

Chiang Mai (Thai): Her go-to for Thai food, especially the pad woon sen with perfectly textured noodles and plenty of vegetables.

Yen Ching: When craving classic Chinese-American comfort food, Julie heads here for the Kung Pao chicken and snow peas with shrimp.

Wei Hong Bakery on Olive: A nostalgic childhood staple for Sunday buns. Favorites include the ham & egg bun, sesame balls, pineapple bolo buns, plus their roast duck and roast pork.
