M.L. Woodward is a poet, author, musician, community organizer, civil rights advocate, and believer in the transformative power of words, creativity, and love.
A writer since childhood, M.L. has always used poetry as a way to make sense of life, express what could not always be spoken, and connect with others through shared experiences. Her creative journey has taken many forms—from poetry and music to books, educational coloring books for children, community organizing, and advocacy.
Before becoming an author, M.L. pursued her passion for music, traveling throughout California and performing her original work. Her music has been featured on local radio and television, including KWIN and Good Day Sacramento, and she was recognized as a BET 106 & Park Wild ’N Out Wednesday All-Star in both 2011 and 2012.
Today, M.L. continues to turn her experiences into art and action. She writes books of poetry and creates educational coloring books designed to introduce children to the beauty and power of poetry. As a worker union organizer and civil rights advocate, she is committed to helping everyday people find their voices, understand their rights, and build stronger communities.
She is also the founder of Feminine Facts, an initiative created to help marginalized and underprivileged women and girls access information, education, encouragement, and support.
For M.L., creativity and service have always been connected. Whether she is feeding someone through cooking, comforting someone through poetry, or standing beside working people in their fight for dignity, her mission remains the same: to give love in whatever form she has to give.
Because sometimes the only thing you have to give, you learn to give with love—you your words, your heart, your hands, and your love.
M.L. Woodward writes not simply to be heard, but to remind others that they are not alone.
Poet. Author. Organizer. Advocate. Lover of people and words.
