It's Takeover Week here at Alchemy Bakehouse, and this one is extra meaningful! You see, we call the Old City district of downtown Knoxville home, so when the Old City Association dropped by to talk about doing a takover we were thrilled!
The Old City Association has a story to tell, and has picked cookies that each represent a facet of the Old City. Read on for the meaning behind each cookie in their lineup.
OLD CITY APPLE CAKE
Let's start off with a bang. The Old City Association requested a brand new signature sweet created especially for them. We were given 3 ingredients and, like an episode of Chopped, we were simply told to create magic. The ingredients: Tennessee Bourbon, Pecans, and Apples. What we came up with is this: A buttery, moist mini cake filled with a mix of tart-sweet apples and warm Fall spices, it is topped with a brown sugar pecan crumble and drizzled with a rich bourbon infused caramel. This reimagined classic is a nod toward the Old City district's colorful past as well as it's modern renaissance that has turned this eclectic corner of Knoxville into a vibrant borough of artisan commerce, boutique businesses, and first class eats & entertainment. This is where Alchemy Bakehouse resides and we couldn't be more proud. Truly the apple of our eye.
THE KITCHEN SINK
A little bit of everything, in the best possible way. Restaurants, breweries, coffee, live music, dancing, shopping, art, and history all come together within a few Old City blocks, making this eclectic cookie a perfect match.
OATMEAL CREAM PIE
Inspired by a treat born right here in East Tennessee, the Oatmeal Cream Pie represents the local roots and East Tennessee spirit at the heart of the Old City.
TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CHIP
A classic that never gets old. Like the Old City, there’s something familiar and timeless about it that keeps people coming back, whether they’ve been visiting for decades or are discovering it for the first time.
CANDY CARNIVAL (M &M Cookie)
Colorful, lively, and made for a good time. From festivals and First Fridays to packed patios and nights out on Central, this cookie represents the energy and personality that make the Old City such a fun
