The clocks won’t change for a little while, but your body doesn’t wait until November to pay attention to changes in daylight. ⏰🌙

Your circadian rhythm is your body’s internal 24-hour clock, helping regulate when you feel awake, when you become sleepy, and the daily timing of things like hormone release, body temperature, digestion, and metabolism.

One of the strongest signals that helps keep that clock on track is light.

Morning light signals to the brain that the day has begun, while less light in the evening supports the natural processes that prepare the body for sleep. As the amount and timing of daylight gradually change throughout the year, your internal clock is responding right along with it.

That’s why the habits you establish before the time change can matter.

Getting outside in the morning, keeping sleep and wake times relatively consistent, moving your body during the day, and dimming bright lights and screens as bedtime approaches all provide cues that help reinforce a healthy sleep-wake rhythm.

Your nervous system plays an important role in coordinating these daily rhythms, which is one reason supporting nervous system health is part of the bigger conversation around quality sleep and recovery.

When the clocks eventually move back an hour, your body will still need time to adjust. Consistent signals now can help build a stronger foundation before that shift happens. 💤
