🇺🇸September 11 reminds us how quickly an ordinary day can become a day the world will never forget.

Today, we remember every life lost, every family forever changed, and every first responder who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape. We remember the courage, sacrifice, heartbreak, and unity that followed.

For our family, this day also carries a deeply personal remembrance.

We did not open another restaurant.

We built a place where parents can actually watch their kids play and still eat something real.

Three years ago Matt walked away from a medical devices career because he was missing games, practices, and tournaments. Teresa built most of the menu. Our three boys grew up in these rinks. Hazel Park is still home ice. That is why every Chop Detroit and CD Top Shelf lives inside a Michigan arena and nowhere else.

Kalamazoo is the newest one. CD Top Shelf is open now at Biggby Coffee Ice Cube, 5076 Sports Drive, looking over the rink. Same building people used to call their neighborhood spot. Same view. Better food.

Homemade soups and sauces. Chopped sandwiches and salads. Fresh wings. Almost nothing comes out of a bag. We cook for families who spend two and three hours a night in a rink and are tired of hot dogs.

Weeknights 5 to 9 right now. Nights and weekends start September 1. Full menu and lunch mid September when the season really starts.

We are truly overwhelmed by the incredible support our community showed us during our first night of our soft opening. What we expected to be a quiet evening turned into something incredibly special, and we can’t thank you enough.

Because of your amazing response, we’ve decided to stay open Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM this week.

As a Michigan small business and a hockey family, we feel incredibly blessed to become part of this community. Your kindness, encouragement, and support have meant more to us than words can express, and we look forward to serving you for many years to come.
