At Ovelle Coffee, we are proud to be a small, women-owned and Black-owned roastery built on passion, hard work, and purpose. Behind every roast is a team that works tirelessly to source, profile, roast, pack, educate, and build meaningful relationships throughout the coffee community.

One of the things we are most proud of is our direct relationship with small farms in Jamaica, helping bring exceptional Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee from the mountains of Jamaica all the way to Connecticut. Supporting small business also means supporting farmers, producers, and families across the entire supply chain.

We truly love bringing people together through coffee—and this past weekend at café in West Hartford we held a wonderful sensory tasting experience. Incredible turnout, so many happy faces, and a room full of curiosity, conversation, and learning ☕️

One of our biggest focuses during this Ovelle Coffee sensory experience was helping people understand why coffee tastes the way it does. Tasting notes are not just words on a bag, they are a reflection of origin, processing, roast development, and brewing. When you slow down and taste intentionally, you start to pick up on sweetness, acidity, body, and those nuanced flavor notes that make each coffee unique.

We paired coffees with complementary foods to highlight and enhance these characteristics, showing how the right pairing can amplify sweetness, balance acidity, or bring out entirely new flavor experiences. It is one of the most accessible and fun ways to deepen your understanding of coffee, whether you are in the industry or just brewing at home.

The Ovelle Coffee team will be there again this year, surrounded by an incredible community of women-owned businesses across Connecticut 🙌

Last year’s 2025 celebration hosted by the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC) was nothing short of inspiring, and we are so excited to be back supporting and uplifting this community once again. 2025 was a packed room of strong women and the allies who support us! Being a women-owned roastery—and women roasters—in this industry is something we carry with pride. There are so few of us in Connecticut, and that representation matters.

Ovelle Coffee started as a dream for Sasha, and watching it grow into what it is today has been incredible. In 2025, she was honored with the Women Rising Award from the WBDC, and we could not be more proud ✨

At the same time, Brianna’s consulting business, Brewing with Brianna LLC, continues to thrive—consulting, teaching, and empowering the next generation of coffee professionals with the skills, knowledge, and support they need to succeed. Having her on the team elevates our education program and expands our offerings.
